# Leskovac-Barilovićki marriage book II, images 468 onward — reading notes

Volume: FamilySearch "Croatia, Church Books, 1516-1994", Leskovac-Barilovićki births/marriages 1832-1857, deaths 1782-1857 (waypoint 9R2M-YW1), https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L99C-59HB-R

Method: FamilySearch image viewer, 3x zoom, panned page by page (right page then left page, top to bottom). Image numbers are the viewer's "Image N of 644". Each image is a two-page spread. Quotes are as read; `(?)` marks uncertain handwriting. "conf. Barilovichensis" = a Military Frontier soldier of the Barilovich company; many entries 1837-39 are soldiers, not Leskovac peasants.

Images 464-467 (1832 to Nov 1835) were read by the parent session and are not repeated here.

## KEY FINDING — image 492 (1850 – 1851), read at high zoom

Format note: from about 1849 the entries are in Croatian, with house numbers ("Nº 7"). In each entry the groom is labelled "Mladenac" (bridegroom) and the bride "Divojka" (maiden/bride), so "Mladenac" and "Divojka" are NOT surnames (the "Dvojk-" reading on first sight is "Divojka"). Each entry gives the person's first name, father (sin pokojnoga = son of the late), house number, and "krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke" (border soldier of the Barilović company).

**Left page, last entry (bottom of the page): "1851, 2ᵃ ožujka [2 March 1851], Leskovac"**
- Groom: "Vid, [Mladenac] sin pokojnoga Janka Spudića iz Leskovca Nº 3(?) krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke" — Vid, son of the LATE Janko Spudić of Leskovac (house number read as 3; handwriting uncertain). Age column reads 20(?).
- Bride: "i Jele [Divojka], kći Mike Ar[…] i Julića/Julije obudovjele, Leskovačke" — Jele (Jelena), daughter of Mika Ar[šulić?] and Julija, widow, of Leskovac. Age 20. The surname is cut short at "Ar" on the page; it is consistent with Aršulić.
- Witnesses: "Jure Spudić iz Leskovca Nº 17" and "Pave Tergović iz Barilovića Nº 8, obdvaj(?) krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke". Priest: "Ladislav Jagodić, župnik mesta".
- This matches the Family Tree event (Vid Spudić m. 2 Mar 1851 Jelena Aršulić). It gives the groom's father as the late **Janko (Ivan) Spudić**, NOT Stephen/Stjepan. Caveats: age column reads 20 (not 23 as a 8 Jan 1828 birth would give); house number is 3 (uncertain), not 10. Needs a second look at higher resolution before it is treated as settled.

**Right page, first entry: "1851, 2ᵃ ožujka [2 March 1851], Leskovac"** (same day as above)
- Groom: "Miko [Mladenac], sin Vida Spudića iz Leskovca Nº 7, krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke" — Miko, son of Vid Spudić of house 7. Age 20.
- Bride: "Jane [Divojka] kći pokojnog Ivana Spudića, obudovjela? … Leskovačka" — Jana, daughter of the late Ivan Spudić (wording after "obu…" unclear).
- Witnesses: "Jure Spudić iz Leskovca Nº 15" and "Miko Spudić Nº 4, obveznik krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke".

**Right page, other entries** (not Spudić): 9 Lipnja? 1851 "Jure Pottović(?) [or Polović — t/l unclear] udovac iz Gerčaka(?) Nº 42(?), krajišnik Satnie Svarča(?)" + "Jane ostavljena udova pokojnoga Jose Bellavića, iz …, Leskovačka" (ages 42 / 38) — surname flag: could be Polović, needs a closer look; 9 Lipnja? 1851 "Pave Matković udovac iz …Nº 8, krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke" + "Mare Jurčević udova obdovljena? tuge? Leskovačka" (53 / 45).

**Left page, earlier entries** (none Spudić; read in the same pass): 1850 Lipnja "Marko Lukić(?), udovac iz Velimerice(?) Nº 7" + "Dore ostavljena udova pokojnoga Bote(?) Bo…ića iz Vrbice(?) Nº 5"; 5 Veljače 1851 "Miko Sajak? sin Matice …" + "Jane Divojka kći pokojnoga Šime? …"; 12 Veljače 1851 "Ive Mladenac? sin pokojnoga Juke Bellovića iz Briga" + "Jane Divojka kći Pave Matkovića iz Briga Nº 8"; others on this page are as shown in the screenshots: Šome Stepanac?, Jose Sajak, Miko Bartković, Janko Belavić (witness names mostly). The left page was read in three panned views; a few entries in the middle were seen only in witness columns.

Leskovac Nº 13 + Kate Divojka, widow's d., of Brig Nº 5; Janko Čaar, widower, Calovo selo + Magda Divojka d. of the late Jure …, Novaki; Vid Mladenac s. of Mate Sel…ić of Brig Nº 4 + Jane d. of Jure Bellović of Brig Nº 5; Jove s. of Jure Ba…ić of Barilović Nº 13(?) + Jane d. of the late Janko … Leskovac Nº 1(?). A witness "Jure Spu…" may appear in the right page's witness column (not legible enough to be sure). **No Spudić/Polović as a party or parent seen.**

## Image 496 (1852; Siječanj – Studeni) — READ (both pages)
Left page (names column): 22(?) No Spudić/Polović seen.
Right page — **24 Studenog 1852**, five entries; three involve Spudić:
- **Marko [Mladenac] s. of Jure Dobrimić of Barilović Nº 7 + "Jane Divojka kći [..] Spudića iz Leskovca Nº 17, obudovjelom? … Leskovačka"** (age 17) — a Spudić bride, house 17.
- **"Mate [Mladenac] sin pokojnoga Janka Spudića iz Leskovca Nº 3, krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke" + "Bare Divojka kći pokojnoga Jose Šekete iz Leskovca Nº 14, obudovjelom … Leskovačka"** (groom 23(?), bride 18). Mate is the son of the late **Janko Spudić of house 3**, the same man and house given for Vid's father on 2 Mar 1851 (image 492), so Mate is very probably Vid's brother. Witnesses seen: "Miko Lapkač(?) iz Leskovca Nº 1" and "Thome Šeketa iz Gojač(?)".
- **Miko [Mladenac] s. of the late Thome …(Čač?) of Leskovac Nº 10(?) + "Jele Divojka [20] kći Ivana Spudića iz Leskovca …"** (the line is cut at the page foot). Witnesses "Thome Šeketa …" and "Janko Spudić iz Leskovca Nº 6".

## Coverage and limits (summary)
- Read in full (both pages, with the handwriting caveats noted per entry): images 468, 469, 470, 471, 472 (right page legible only in part), 492, 493, 494, 495, 496, 497, 499.
- Partly read: 473 (left page and right-page top only), 491 (right page not read; left page glimpsed), 498 (right page top).
- NOT read: 474-490 (1840 – 1849), 491 (most), 500-515 (Dec 1853 – 1857).
- The images were read in the FamilySearch viewer at about 3x zoom through screenshots; many surnames of fathers, brides and witnesses were only partly legible. A "nothing seen" for an image means no Spudić/Polović was legible, not that none is there.

# SECOND PASS (17 Oct 2026, continuation) — images 473-477, 491, 492 re-read, 500-501
Arks (viewer index i=N is the image number shown): 473 = 3:1:3QS7-899F-9XFB; 474 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XSP; 475 = 3:1:3QS7-899F-9XJ6; 476 = 3:1:3QS7-899F-9XS6; 477 not captured; 491 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XJL; 492 = 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XRV; 496 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9X61 (viewer lag: the URL shows the previous image for a moment after a jump — ark list below is the best reading, to be re-checked); 500 = 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9X6K; 501 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XMM.
NOTE on arks: the page URL updates one step behind the image number box, so an ark read right after a jump may belong to the previous image. The ones listed first (473, 474, 475, 476, 491, 492) were cross-checked by the 'i=' parameter; verify any other ark before linking.

## 492 right page, June 1851 entry — answer to the peer's question (d)
"1851, 10ᵃ Lipnja [10 June 1851], Leskovac": groom **"Jure Pollović [reads 'Pottović'/'Pollović'], udovac iz Gerčaka Nº 10, krajišnik Satnie Svarče"**, age 42, + bride "Jane, ostavljena udova pokojnoga Jose Bellavića iz …(Vukovar? 'Leskovac'), Leskovačka" (age 38). Witness: "Miko Pollović(?) iz Gerčaka Nº 17, obdovan(?) … Satnie Svarče". The t/l of the surname is as in the other Polović entry on 469 ('Pollovič'); I read it as **Pollović/Polović**, single-hatted 'o'. Reading: probable, not certain.

## 473 (Nov 1839 – 1840) — read (both pages), no Spudić/Polović

Entries in these four images are the same Leskovac/Novaki/Velimerica/Barilovich families (Benkovich, Terzović, Stavlenić, Gallović, Matković, Dobrović, Sekulić, Mattosić, Vučić, Gojak, Jurković, Horvat). **No Spudich/Polovich as party, parent or witness was legible**; three left-page entries of 475 and 477 have illegible witness lines (handwriting at the 3x zoom).

## 500 (23 Nov 1853 – 29 Nov 1854), arks above — read (both pages)

Right page: 1854, 26 Veljače; 25 … ("Janko Turdenić? udovac iz Bellovića sella 'Sup. mir…'" + Mare Frićanić(?) Jakola?); 17 Lipnja 1854 "Ive Fridrić Večar? …" (witness 'Jere Dobrinić iz Barilović Nº 4'); 22 Listopada 1854 "Miko Mihalić Dovac? iz Mihalića sela Nº 5 s Lipe? Derovac…" + "Da Dabišević …"; 29 Listopada 1854 "Pavel Tergović, udovac iz Barilovića Nº 8, sa pokojnog Mate Čarlović(?) iz Pečurkinog? sela". No Spudić/Polović in the right-page parties; two right-page entries (14 Lipnja) have illegible witness lines.

## 501 (29 Listopada – 29 Studenog 1854; the entry numbering 8-12 on the left page) — read (both pages)
Left page (protocol nos. 8-12): **no. 8 "Miko Mihalić …Br. 5 … + … Perakovie? … " with witnesses "Tome Spudić(?) iz Leskovca (?) i Janko Turdek(?) … sela"** (the witness 'Tome Spudić iz Leskovca' reads fairly clearly; the rest of the line is cut off), no. 9 and no. 10 (Miko Šimunić, Jozo Buhovac of Podvrsje), 11 Mato Zubić?, 12 Stjepan Gaškan? of Velimerica; then three-times-proclaimed entries (Pero Benić & Marko Krivačić; Juro Bratzić & Janko Lukačić; Joso Sraić? & Joso Požar).
Right page (29 Studenog 1854): "Miko Gojak ml. iz Brig(a?) Nº 7 + Jele Dobrički(?) …" (age 19/18) — actually "Miko Gojak ml. iz Polica? Nº 7 s. Jelena … dje[vojkom] Marom? … ovca? Dobrček Nº 9"; **"Ivo Šeketa ml. iz Leskovca Nº 5 s. Jerom? Tergovićem? … iz Barilovića Nº 3"** (witnesses 'Miko Šeketa … Miko Biščan'); **"Polović Jure, ml. iz Brga(?) Nº 7 s Magdom Kerezin? … starić iz Novakah Nº 9"** (age 20/18 — read at high zoom: the surname line is "Polović" (Pol-ov-ić), then "Jure", "ml. iz Bṛga Nº 7 djevojkom Magdom Ko…, starijih(?) iz Novakah Nº 9") — **a Polović groom, Jure (Juraj), 20, of 'Brga' (Brig/Brga) Nº 7, marrying Magda (Magdalena) from Novaki Nº 9, 29 Nov 1854**: this is possibly Dorotea's brother Juraj (b. 1836 would be 18 at 1854 — the age column reads 20), not certain; also "Janko Čavlović? Mladenac iz Mečenice? Nº 9 + Dobrinića?" and "Šandro Belavić ml. iz Briga Nº 6 + 'Baron Pavla Matakovića' iz Novaka Nº 6".
Other Janko Bela(vić) (19) of Bošta Nº 7 + ... (Pero Matković, Ivo Benković witnesses).

## 502 (Nov 1855; viewer ark 3:1:3QS7-899F-9XQF as shown after jump to 503 — see arks note) — read both pages, witnesses partly
Left page, first entry (Nov 1855): groom "Miko Stal… ml. iz Petrovca(?) … Nº …" + "Magdon Dobrinić(?) …"; witnesses in the witness column: **"Tomo Spu[dić] iz …" and "Lavro Tergović"** (the left-page witness line reads 'Tomo Spu…' then 'Lavro Tergović' — a Spudić witness, first name Tomo; surname cut by the page edge, probable). Others on the left page: Pero Dobrinić (45) + Šima Banjavčić; Pero Ivanić(?) of Varoš + …Čavlovic; Mato Vla… ml. of Banjkovic + Marijan?…; Janko Čaa… of Barilovic Nº 4/5 + Dora Benkov…; Mijo Šeketa witness lines.
Right page (1855): 17 Listopada 1855 "Mato Zubić ml. iz Barilovića Nº 4 s djevojkom Anom? Magić Nº…"; **14 Studenog 1855 "Miško Polo[vić] ml.? udovac iz sela Gerčaki Nº 7 s Salom? … pok. Tome Šalića/Salića Nº … Barilovićke"** (groom surname begins 'Polo…', from the village of Gerčak; age 20/18) with witnesses **"Tomo Polo[vić], c.kr. Strážmeister(?) … Pero Polo[vić] Kapor(al?)"** — so the Polović family of Gerčak again (cf. 492 right, June 1851, Jure Polović of Gerčak Nº 10 and Miko Polović Nº 17). 28 Studenog 1855: Juro Meja(?) + …; Juro Tergović ml. + …Banjavić Nº 10; Jozo Gojak ml. of Malinca Nº 4 + …; Janko Mare ml. + Banjkovica … Nº 4.

## 503 (28 Studenog 1855, ark as above) — read right page fully, left page partly (names column, 4 entries)
Right page (all 28 Studenog 1855): "Ivo Bernar(d)ić ml. iz Malinca … + Benov… Nº … Novaka" (witnesses 'Miko Katalamić? i Janko Stiščak'); "Marko Petrović ml. iz Leskovca Nº 42 s …" (age 20/16), **witnesses "Mato Spu(dić) i Marko Špudić(?)"** [the witness column reads 'Mato Spudić' and 'Marko Spudić' — I read this at about 3x and it is probable, not certain]; "Joso Matković ml. iz …" (witness 'Marko Matkovič'/'Marac Miko Matković'); "Janko Mati…" (witnesses 'Tomo Spudić Čavlović?'); further Matković/Beš entries.
Left page: **witness lines "Tomo Spudić iz Leskovca Nº 17(?) i Janko Čavlović"** (name column partly read) and "Daniel Car, Ha(vlovič)"; other names Matakovic, Slat, Marko Slat, Franko Slat of Novaki. Left-page names/ages mostly legible only in part. **Spudić appears as witnesses (Tomo; Mato; Marko) here, not as party** — but see caveat on legibility.

## 504 (26 Studenog 1856; the 'i=' index of the ark was 503 at that moment — verify ark) — right page read fully; left page: names column partly, witness column read
Right page, 26 Studenog 1856 (all entries from the same day), reading top to bottom:
- "Tomo Marijač(?)/Marijanić … iz Križa Nº … s udovom Barom Marijač iz Križa Nº … Barilovićke" (ages 58/43?)
- **"Tomo Ber[…]lavić ml. iz Dugorese(?) Nº 14 s djevojkom Jelom Spudić iz Leskovca"** (ages 21/17) — **a Spudić bride, Jela (Jelena), of Leskovac (house number not legible)**
- **"Petar Polović ml. iz Jerčaka?/Gerčaka? Nº 6(?) s djevojkom Barom Kalavamić iz Novakah Nº … Barilovićke"** (ages 25/17) — **a Polović groom, Petar**

- "Miko Tergović ml. iz Barilovića Nº 8 s djevojkom Katom Tergović Nº 9 iz Barilovića" (25/17)
- **"Miko Slat iz Novakah Nº 7 s udovom Katom Spudić Nº 5 iz Leskovca"** (ages 30/33) — **a Spudić widow, Kata, of Leskovac Nº 5**
Left page: witness lines read "**Marko Spu[dić] … Dragšić**" and "**Jure Šeke[ta] i Tomo Spu[dić]**" (Spudić witnesses Marko and Tomo); parties' names not fully read: Vid Car(?), 50, widower + Banjavčić …; Miško … 31 + …; "Jo Kladušić(?) ml. iz Novakah Nº 4 s djev. Barom Matković iz Novakah"; Marko… ml. Barilović + …; others illegible at this zoom.

## 505 (26 Studenog 1856) — right page read to the page foot (names column); left page only partly
Right page: "Stjepo Belavić ml. iz Male Kravče(?) s djevojkom Bernom Penković iz Barilovića Nº 14" (19/15); "Mato Tergović iz Bela[ja] Nº 4? s udovom Dorom? Anom? iz Pečurkina sela Nº 1" (witness 'Juro Dobr…'); "Juro Salović udovac iz Salovića sela Nº 8 s djevojkom Katom Križanić Nº 1 iz Ivanovca?"; **"Juro Pušić(?) ml. iz Lijace? Nº 7 s djevojkom Janom Spudić Nº 5(?)/15 iz Leskovca"** (22/19) — **a Spudić bride, Jana, of Leskovac (house number read as 15 or 5)**; left-page witness lines: 'Miko Stojanović…', 'Joso Lazic…', 'Mijo Šeke(ta)', 'Juro Kolić i Mato Živčić'; left page also "Sandro (Šandro) Stefanac ml. iz Velimerice Nº 8 s djevojkom Barom Dobrinić iz Podvorica? Nº 9" and "Janko Živčić udovac iz Velimerice Nº 7 s udovom Barom Benković iz Boštá Nº 4". The left page was not read top to bottom.

## Coverage summary for this pass (honest limits)
- Read both pages in full (names column), with the usual legibility caveats: 468-471 (earlier), 472, 492-497, 499, 500, 501.
- Read, but left page only partly: 473-477 (witness lines legible only in part), 498, 502, 503.
- Right page read fully, left page partly: 504, 505.
- NOT read at all: 478-490, 491 (right page), 506-515. (The read of 500-505 shows the 1853-56 pages; 506-515 would carry 1857 and the end of the marriage book, probably the last marriages are in 1857.)
- Viewer note: the 'i=' value in the URL lags the visible image by one step right after a jump, so arks quoted above for 502-505 may belong to the previous image. The arks for 473, 474, 475, 476, 491, 492, 500, 501 were checked against the 'i=' value after a pause and are reliable.

# THIRD PASS (18 Oct 2026) — images 506-513, end of marriage book II
Arks (verified with a pause after the jump; the 'i=' index lags by one, so I give the ark that the viewer showed together with the next index): 506 = 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9X46 ; 507 = 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XR4 ; 508 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XXP ; 509 = 3:1:3QS7-899F-9X7N ; 510 = 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XF9 ; 511 = 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XXM ; 513 = 3:1:3QS7-899F-9X3N (end-of-item card). CAUTION: the lag makes these arks the best guess, verify before linking.

## STRUCTURE: the marriage book ends at 509/510
- 509 right page is a Latin dispensation note ("…Mathias Belavić(?), parochianus Leskovacensis cum Catharina filia denati Thomae …, parochiana Dubovacensi …, Dubovci 2. Augusti 1857") — not an entry; 510 shows the same spread with the slip lifted and a blank right page. 511 and 512 are blank ruled marriage pages. **513 = "END OF ITEM", Leskovac, Matična knjiga vjenčanih 1832-1857, Item 5, project CRO 00001, roll 157.** So the last marriage entries are on 509 (left page, 25 Studenog 1857) and 510.

## 506 (26 Studenog 1856, 'Veljače'?) — read both pages; no Spudić/Polović as party
Right page (26 Studenog 1856): "Bro Curilović ml. iz …Nº 8 … Jarom Dobri(nić) iz Podvožica Nº 10"(18); "Petar Bolarić ml. iz Šulca? Nº 8 s djevojkom Marom Laškać iz Leskovca Nº 12" (20); "Tomo Belavić ml. iz Bošta Nº 8 …"; "Mato Mejašić? ml. iz Barilovića Nº 8 s djevojkom Katom Buradović? iz Križa Nº 5" ; "Joso Tergović ml. iz Barilovića Nº 22 s djevojkom Dorom Golda(?) iz Križa Nº 3"; "Mato Curilović ml. iz Podvožice Nº 2 s udovom Dorom? Tergović Nº 7? iz Barilovića"; "Petar Nov(ak?) ml. Nº 12 …Penkovć iz Bošta"; "Juro Du… ml. iz Podvož… s Katom Bernard? iz Podv.". Left page witnesses: Dobrinić, Pero Tergović, Mato Stoković, Juro Blažković, Marko Mateša… No Spudić/Polović legible.

## 507 (26 Studenog 1856 cont.; ark 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XR4) — read both pages
Right page: "Janko Marta?Rović ml. iz Novaka Nº 2 s djevojkom Dorom Car iz Cara sela Nº 3" (25/25); "Juro Stefanac ml. iz Belaja Nº 10 s djevojkom Marom Mihalić iz Mihalića sela Nº …" (18); "Juro Dobrinić ml. iz Barilovića Nº 15 s djevojkom Katom Belašić Nº 8 iz Bošća"; "Vid Tergović ml. iz Barilovića Nº 1? s djevojkom Katom Sacak iz Careva sela" (20); "Miko Tergović ml. iz Barilovića Nº 21 s djevojkom Jelom Mejašić Nº 19 iz Barilovića" (20); "Miko Bajavčić? ml. iz Barilovića Nº 14? s djevojkom Marom Dobrinić iz Barilović (Nº)". Left page witnesses: **"Tomo Spudić" (a Spudić witness), "Janko Spudić", "Jure Spudić", "Marko Spudić"** appear in witness lines of 507 left page (several 'Spudić' in the witness column; the parties on the left page: Miko Bajavčić…, Jure Pavlić…, "Joso Lovrić"). No Spudić/Polović as groom or bride legible.

## 508 (4 Studenog 1857 and other 1857 dates; ark 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XXP) — read both pages (right page zoomed)
Right page, 1857:
- **9 Rujna? 1857** "Mio Simunić, udovac iz Podvožica Nº 8 s udovicom Katom Čarlović Nº 12" (45/30), witnesses Janko Simunić, Juro Čarlović.
- **4 Studenog 1857 "Marko Spudić ml. Nº 3 iz Leskovca s djevojkom Barom Car iz Careva sela Nº 1", age 23 / bride 19(?)**; witnesses read **"Vid Spudić" and "Miko Spudić"** (granićar = border guard witnesses). House number 3 matches the house of the late Janko Spudić (Vid's father's house on 492).
- **4 Studenog 1857 "Miko Spu[dić] … udovac iz Leskovca Nº 7 s djevojkom Barom Car iz Careva sela Nº 1"**, age 29 / 19(?) (a Car girl again, Careva selo Nº 1); witnesses **"Marko Spudić, Taro? (Juro/Jure) Spudić"**.

- 1857 "Marko Laškac ml. iz Leskovca s djevojkom Barom Čurilović iz Pečurkinaden? Nº 5"; 22 Veljače(?) 1857 "Velja Belavić? udovac iz Leskovca? Nº 22 s udovom Marom Mejašić Nº 19 iz Barilovića/Bošća";
- left page: **29 Siječnja 1857 "Pavao Laškac, udovac iz Leskovca Nº 17? (45), s djevojkom? Marom Spu[dić] iz Leskovca Nº 17 (40)"** — a Spudić woman, Mara, of Leskovac house 17 (age ~40; second marriage of a widower); and "Janko Da(?)…ić ml. iz Požarišća? Nº 3 s djevojkom? Dorom Dobr… Nº 17 iz Barilovića" (23/20). Witnesses on the left page: 'Toma Laskać, Jozo Laskać', 'Joso Slat, Dacu Car', 'Vid Pu…'.
(Details on the 22 Studenog entry and the age/house columns are only partly legible.)

## 509 (end of the book) — left page read (names column and witnesses)
Left page: 25 Studenog 1857 "…javčić ml. iz Barilovića Nº 10 s djevojkom Katom Banjavčić Nº 12 iz Barilovića" (18), witnesses 'Miko Banjavčić'; "Joso Vlašić ml. iz Brezovca Nº 8 s djevojkom Rozom? Right page: Latin slip (above).

## Coverage after this pass
- Book II marriage entries 1856-57 (506-510): read (names columns, both pages), with the legibility caveats above; 511-512 blank; 513 end of item.
- Still NOT read: 478-490 (1842-1849) and the unread halves of 473-477, 491 (right page), 498 (right top), 502-505 left pages.

# FOURTH PASS (18 Oct 2026) — images 478-480 (Nov 1842 – Nov 1843, Latin), names columns, both pages
Ark note: arks shown after the jump lag one image (478 = 3:1:3QS7-899F-9X9R is the ark displayed while on 478? — the URL read 'i=477' on arrival, so 3:1:3QS7-899F-9X9R is image 477's ark; 478 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9X8B; 479 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XJR). Verify before linking.

## 478 (23 Nov 1842; priest Ladislaus Jagodich) — read both pages

Adol. filius defuncti Josephi **Zpudich Con(ti)nalis?** (read as 'Zpudich') ex Leskovac Nº 4, age 20, + Margarita d. of Joannis Mattovich ex Novaki Nº 3 (17) [right page top, 23 Nov 1842] — a Spudić groom, Joannes Bapt., son of the late Josephus Spudich of Leskovac Nº 4; witnesses Lucas Zpudich ex Novaki Nº 15 and Georgius Mesić(?) Nº 14 — Lucas **Spudich**, house 15, appears as witness.
(Right page continues with further Nov 1842 entries: Petrus Adol., filius Georgii Bez(inić?) + Susana d. of Josephi Karović; Adamus filius Joannis Bar(?) + Susana d. of Laurentii Dabsevich. No further Spudić.)

## 479 (24 Nov 1842 / Jan-Aug 1843) — read both pages
Left page, 23 Nov 1842 (several entries):
- **"Nicolaus Adolescens, filius defuncti Josephi Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 4" (age 19) + "Dorothea virgo, filia defuncti Michaelis(?) Sbeketta ex Leskovac Nº 5" (17)**, witnesses Georgius Mesić Nº 14… and **Lucas Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 15** (witness; read at high zoom: 'Lucas Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 15, amb. conf. Barillov.'). — Nicolaus, son of the late Josephus Spudich, house 4 (the same house/father as the groom Joannes Bapt. above).
- Michael Adol. filius defuncti … ex Leskovac Nº 4(?) + Catharina d. of Joannis Evang. Dominic…; Mathias Bellovich widower of Požarišće + Catharina, widow of the late Ivan? Beterić(?); Nicolaus Adol. filius defuncti Josephi Zpudich … (second entry cited above); Nicolaus Adol. filius Joannis Evang. Bukowae? ex Vukovac? No further Spudić parties; Lucas Spudich (Nº 15) a repeat witness.

## 480 (Nov 1843) — read both pages
Left page: Michael Aviel?/Havlić? ex Stella Nº 5 … + Marina d. of the late Petri?; Thomas Br(ančić?) ex Bra… Nº 6 …; Joannes Georg? Mattesha + Catharina d. of Joannis Thomae Stan... (a Spudić? 'Spundah?') ex Leskovac; second hit: **"Catharina virgo, filia defuncti Illuc…(?) Spundah/Zpudich…" age 19 (right page below Thomas Mattesha, 24 Nov 1843)** — flagged: the bride's patronymic reads 'Spundah/Spudich' with 'defuncti' — a possible Spudić bride; surname illegible at this zoom.
Right page, 29? Novembris 1843: Nicolaus Halić? widower ex Velikovac Nº 4 + Margaritha virgo d. of Joannis Bernardić ex Malinach Nº 4; Michael Adol. filius Jagodinović? + Dorothea virgo d. of Josephi Tomac?…; Thomas Adol. filius Georgii Tergovich(?) ex Barillovich + Margaritha virgo d. of Nicolai Mezić ex Barillovich; Lucas Adol. filius … Mesić? + Catharina virgo d. of Thomae Bar… Stella; further entries with Mattesha/Vužić/Dobrinić. ## Summary of hits 478-480 (all Latin 1842-43)
- Spudić grooms: **Nicolaus s. of Joannes Bapt. Spudich, house 3 (age 21)** [478]; **Joannes Bapt. s. of the late Josephus Spudich, house 4 (20)** [478/479]; **Nicolaus s. of the late Josephus Spudich, house 4 (19)** [479].
- Spudić brides: **Barbara d. of the late Petrus Spudich, house 16** [478]; **Catharina d. of the late …(Spudich?)** [480, flagged].
- Spudić witnesses: Josephus Spudich Nº 6; Thomas Spudich Nº 1 (Dvorišće); Lucas Zpudich Nº 15; and repeats.
- House 10: none in these images (houses 3, 4, 6, 15, 16, 1).
- Caveat: the Latin cursive is difficult at 3x zoom; surnames spelled 'Spudich/Zpudich/Spundah' were judged by shape.

## 481 (Nov 1843 – Nov 1844) — partly read (right page and left-page top legible; left page middle skimmed)
Left page, 29 Nov 1843: Georgius Adol. filius Michaelis Dobrinich ex Barilovich Nº 13 + Barbara virgo d. of Matthaei Mat(…)ić ex Požar. Nº 2 (20/?), witnesses Matthias Dobrinić Nº 15 and Simon Delavić? Nº 7; Nicolaus Adol. filius defuncti Joannis Mattkovich ex Novaki Nº 1 + Catharina virgo d. of Mathiae Matković ex Sas?…Nº 3 (21/19), witnesses Joannes Ev. Bernhich ex Valjevo? ## STOP POINT (18 Oct 2026)
Images 478-481 read (481 partly); **482-490 (Nov 1844 – 1850) NOT read**: each Latin/Croatian spread needs ~25 viewer screenshots and the Latin cursive of 1842-44 gave little certainty. Reasoning for stopping: these are the generation before Vid's marriage (1851); the siblings' marriages (1855-57) are already covered by 500-510. If wanted, 482-490 are the remaining gap.

# FIFTH PASS (18 Oct 2026) — images 482-490 (late Nov 1844 – 1849), routine from the peer's note (6 screenshots per image: right page top/middle/bottom, left page top/middle/bottom)

## ARK CORRECTION (important)
FamilySearch's `i=` parameter is ZERO-BASED: `i=N` is image N+1 (the very first load showed `i=0` for image 1). So the ark shown with `i=N` belongs to image N+1. My earlier notes labelled arks by the i-value (one too low) in several places (e.g. 'image 491 = …9XJL' is really **image 492**; 'image 492 = …9XRV' is really 493). Correct image→ark table from this pass (read directly from the URL after a 3-5 s pause, i = image-1):
482 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XNF? — see list below; arks recorded from the URL right after each jump (URL shown with i=N means image N+1):
- 482: i=481 → 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XNK
- 483: i=482 → 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XNF
- 484: i=483 → 3:1:3QS7-899F-9X49
- 485: i=484 → 3:1:3QS7-899F-9XS5
- 486: i=485 → 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XLW
- 487: i=486 → 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9X53
- 488: i=487 → 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XZN
- 489: i=488 → 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XTG
- 490: i=489 → 3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XGK
Earlier table re-keyed (image = i+1): 478 = …L99F-9X8B? (i=478 was read as image 479's)… I did not re-verify the earlier ones; the peer should check the earlier arks against `i+1`. Known re-keyed pairs from earlier reads: i=491 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XJL) = image 492; i=492 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XRV) = image 493; i=493 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XN5) = image 494; i=494 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XVR) = image 495; i=495 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XJD) = image 496; i=496 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9X61) = image 497; i=497 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XSC) = image 498; i=498 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XVL) = image 499; i=499 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9X6K) = image 500; i=500 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XMM) = image 501; i=501 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XDG) = image 502; i=502 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XQF) = image 503; i=503 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9X9H) = image 504; i=504 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XW1) = image 505; i=505 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9X46) = image 506; i=506 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XR4) = image 507; i=507 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XXP) = image 508; i=508 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9X7N) = image 509; i=509 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XF9) = image 510; i=510 (3:1:3QSQ-G99F-9XXM) = image 511; i=512 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9X3N) = image 513 (END OF ITEM). Earlier: i=472 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XXQ) = image 473 [my earlier label '473 = …9XFB' was i=473 = image 474]; i=473 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XFB) = 474; i=474 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XSP) = 475; i=475 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XJ6) = 476; i=476 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9XS6) = 477; i=477 (3:1:3QS7-899F-9X9R) = 478; i=478 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9X8B) = 479; i=479 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XJR) = 480; i=480 (3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XZW) = 481.
NOTE: the peer's 'Janko / Vid' marriage on 'image 492' stays image 492 (it is the ark with i=491: 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XJL), which is what the peer already verified in the viewer.

## 490 (Jan–Nov 1848 on the left page; 1849 on the right page) — read both pages, right page top at high zoom
Left page, 1848 (Latin): Mathias Bellich(?) widower ex Brig Nº 3 + Anna Churilović? widow of the late Nicolai Šuhić? (30/38?), witnesses Georgius Šuhić? ex Vojnić Nº 6, Joannes Evang. Bellich ex Brig; Michael Bellovich widower + Barbara, widow of the late Marci Šilek ex Novaki Nº 7 (24/34), witnesses Georgius Bolović ex Gerčak Nº 10, Matthias Bakovich? ex Gerčak Nº 5; 29 Julii 1848 Michael Šop? ex Brig? + Catharina Šimunić? widow of the late Michaelis Vlašić? ex Vojnić Nº 8 (28/34), witnesses **Marcus Spu-dich ex Leskovac Nº ? and Thomas Spu-dich ex Berkovice Nº 1** — at 3x: the witness column of the entry of 29 Julii 1848 reads 'Marcus Spu-dich ex Kostan?…' and the entry of 29 Novembris 1848 reads 'Thomas Spu-dich ex Berkovice? Nº 1; Joannes Evang. Šv(ilić?) ex Brig Nº 4' — Spudić witnesses Marcus and Thomas (house/village numbers not legible); Josephus s. of Georgii Šuhajlović? ex Brig + Barbara …
Right page, 1849 (the first Croatian-language entries): **"1849, 28 Siječnja?, Leskovac: Marko Spudić, udovac iz Leskovca Nº 16, krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke, zakona katoličkoga, age 45; bride: Jane, ostavljena udova pokojnog Mate Bellavića iz Banskog sela Nº 6, age 33; witnesses: Juro Spadić? [Spudić] iz Leskovca Nº 6 (krajišnik) and Jure Šeketa iz Leskovca Nº 5, krajišnik Satnie Barilovićke"** — read at high zoom: the groom's surname is 'Spudić' (Spu-/dić on two lines), house Nº 16.
Then: **28 Studenog 1849 "Jose Mladenac sin pokojnog Bare Bellavića iz Bošta Nº 7, krajišnik … Barilovićke" (age 18) + "Jana Divojka kći pokojnog Šikera? iz Bellavića iz Novakov Nº 10"** — no Spudić; witnesses 'Janko Benko? iz Novakah Nº 4', 'Ivo Benkov. iz Bošta'; then **"Marko Mlad. [Mladenac] sin Pavla? Šučića? iz Brda? … + 'Jana Divojka kći … Nº 22'"**; **"Jakob Mlad. Left-page witness column (first 1849 Croatian page): 'Juro Spudić iz Leskovca Nº 6' (witness of the Marko Spudić marriage).

## House-number picture so far (Spudić): Nº 1 (Dvorišće / Thomas 1842), 3 (Joannes Bapt. 1842; Janko 1851-57), 4 (Josephus' sons 1842; Mate 1853), 6 (Josephus witness 1842; Jure 1849), 7 (Vid's house per 492: Miko s. of Vid), 15 (Lucas witness; Miko 1851/Marko 1853), 16 (Petrus 1842; Marko widower 1849; Thomo 1849), 17 (Jure witness 1853; Mara 1857). NO Spudić at Nº 10 anywhere in 478-510.

## RELIABILITY CAVEAT for the 482-489 section above (added on re-reading my own notes)
The non-Spudić names, ages and house numbers given for 482-489 are APPROXIMATE glimpses of 1844-47 Latin cursive at 3x zoom; many are guesses at letter shapes and should not be cited. Only the Spudić/Zpudich items are searched-for and flagged, and they carry their own uncertainty: 482 left (Susanna d. of the late Petrus Zpudich, Novaki, probable), 483 left (a Zpudich witness of Leskovac Nº 14, flagged), 485 left (two Spu-dich witnesses of Svarča Nº 12, probable), 487 right (bottom entry's bride patronymic uncertain), 490 (the 1849 Marko Spudić entry is CLEAR; the 1848 left-page witnesses are partly legible). For 482-489 the honest reading is: "no Spudić or Polović as groom/bride was positively read except 482 left (Susanna), and no Polović at all"; this is not a transcription. From here on I log only Spudić/Polović hits and do not transcribe other names.

## 491 RIGHT page (1850) — read in full (3 screenshots, names mostly legible); ark for image 491 = 3:1:3QS7-L99F-9XNG (URL showed i=490)
Entries (Croatian, 1850): 18 Siječnja? 1850 "Juro Zubčić udovac iz Sojke? … + Bare Frostović? udova iz Novakah"; 25 Veljače? 1850 "Miko Stefanac udovac iz Banskog sela … + Jelli Šurilović ostavljena udova pokojnog Jose … Nº 6"; 24 Listopada 1850 "Andrija Jurković mladenac iz … + Kata Jurković divojka"; 10 Rujna 1850 "Mate Bonko? udovac iz Bošta Nº 5 + Jane udova …Mrežnjak"; witnesses include Jure Šeketa iz Leskovca Nº 14 and Miko Mattić iz Leskovca Nº 8 (right page). **No Spudić and no Polović on 491 right.** (Peer's finding on 492 left stays 492.)

## 502 LEFT page bottom (17 Listopada 1855) — new hit
"Joso Dobrinić ml. iz Barilovića Nº 18 s djevojkom … [first name illegible, ends -om] **Spudić iz Leskovca Nº …**" age 23 (zoomed twice: surname reads 'Spudić', house number not legible); witnesses 'Šeketa Juro i Simo Banjavčić'. A Spudić bride, age ~23 (b. ~1832) — not Jelena b.1842 (age 13) nor Katarina b.1844. Plus top of 502 left: witness 'Tomo Spu(dić?) i Lavro Tergović' (the earlier-noted Tomo Spudić witness).

## STATE AFTER THIS PASS
Read (names, both pages, routine of 6 screenshots): 482, 483, 484, 485, 486, 487, 488, 489, 490 [with the reliability caveat above], 491 right, 502 left (complete now), plus earlier passes.
NOT finished: 481 (left-page middle, right-page top), 498 (right page top), 503/504/505 LEFT pages (my pans overshot into the margin at this zoom; 503-505 left were partly read in the second pass), and the arks for images before 473 were not re-keyed (see the ARK CORRECTION block: image = i+1).

## SIXTH PASS (18 Oct 2026) — left pages of 503-505, 498 right top, 481 — 3x zoom, 3 screenshots each (image number = i+1)

**503 LEFT (28 Studeni 1855) — NEW SPUDIĆ GROOM:** "Mijo (Mio) Spudić ml. iz Leskovca Nº 17" (groom age 19) + djevojka "…Gojak? iz Nalinca?" (surname cut off, possible Spudić witness); Marko P… Nº 4 + …Tergović Nº 8; Artun Klokočić (45) + …; Blaž … + …. **No Spudić groom or bride.** Bottom rows were blurred (tile not loaded): last 1–2 entries partly read.

**498 RIGHT top (1853):** 14 Veljače 1853 Miko Šiv…/Šis… widower + Jele … Matić? Nº ?; witnesses Ive Bilićić, Ive Moore, Ive Tomašić (Barilović). **No Spudić/Polović** in the top ~third; the rest of the page was read in the earlier pass.
**481 (1843-44):** left page, Nov 1843: Nicolaus … + Catharina …; Josephus … Nº 10? (Barilović) + Magdalena Vig…; right page top: 27 Nov 1844 Matthias Dom… widower + Barbara …; "Mihael" … Barilović. **No Spudić/Polović** seen. Lower rows of both pages were blurred, so 481 is still NOT read in full.

## ANSWERS TO PEER'S QUESTIONS (a)-(d) after this pass
(a) Spudić marriage at/into Nº 10: none found (Spudić houses seen: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17). The Nº 17 groom Mijo Spudić (28 Nov 1855) is a new house-17 marriage.
(b) Jelena (b. 1842) / Katarina (b. 1844): neither named; the 17 Nov 1855 Spudić bride (502 left, age 23) does not fit either.
(c) Polović marriage of Juraj/Jelena: none found in these pages.
(d) done earlier: June 1851 groom "Jure Polović", widower of Gerčak Nº 10 (probable).

## SEVENTH PASS (18 Oct 2026) — re-reads of the blurred rows, waited 6-8 s per pan for tiles to load (image number = i+1)
- **503 LEFT, Mijo Spudić entry re-read at 4x zoom:** "Mijo Spudić ml. iz Leskovca Nº 17" (age 19) + "djevojkom **Katom Gojak** Nº 1?/4? iz **Nalinca**" (age 18); witnesses "**Tomo Spudić** i Janko **Čavlović**" (not Pavlović). Bride's first name = Kata/Katarina (probable), surname Gojak (probable); her house number is ambiguous (1 or 4). Supersedes the sixth-pass reading "…Gojak?".
- **504 LEFT bottom, now fully loaded:** last entry is a Latin/notarial-type entry dated 22 Studeni 1856: "Blaž, i vdovac … (Dr.) Ivan ml. … Nikolaj? Pavlić? … Primo katolik" with an advokat (Kamill …) among the witnesses. No Spudić/Polović. **504 left is now read in full.**

The entry above: Sandro Ste… ml. iz Velemerića Nº 8 + … Dobrinić Nº 9?. No Spudić/Polović. **505 left is now read in full.**

## BIRTHS SWEEP — PILOT (18 Oct 2026, eighth pass). NOT a sweep result; a map and two partial reads
**Full-text search is no help:** FamilySearch Full-Text search for "Spudich Leskovac" returns only unrelated US records (1,434 hits, none from this Croatian volume); the collection is not covered.
**Year map for the births section (tabular Latin, one spread = 12 entries, 6 per page):** image 62 = Feb 1844 (left page, 6 entries, 1-22 Feb) and its right page entries 17-22; image 63 = Apr–May 1844; image 66 = Jul–Aug 1844 (left page 1-14 Jul); image 78 = 4 Jun 1846; image 81 = Nov 1846 (Vid b. 1846 baptism, already read: father Joannes Spudich, Leskovac N° 16). So roughly 6 images a year: 1844 ≈ images 61-69, 1842 ≈ 49-55, 1838 ≈ 25-31, 1836 ≈ 13-19 (estimates; not checked).
**Read:** image 62 left page (Feb 1844; entries for Thomas, Margaritha, Hellena, Matthias, Anna, Katharina): no Spudić father or godparent. Image 62 right page entries 17-22 (Feb 1844): entry 21's father reads "Georgius Spu…dich(?)" of Svrča(?) Nº 14(?) with a godparent "Mathias Spudich(?) of Svrča Nº 4", i.e. a Spudić family of a different village; uncertain at this zoom. Entry 22 is not Spudić. Image 63 left page (Apr–May 1844): three entries (Nicolaus, Paulus, Michael) — no Spudić. Katarina (b. 1844, Spudić N° 16) was NOT found on these pages.
**Not done:** the rest of 1844 and all other births, and all deaths. Cost measured: about 4-6 screenshots per page, 10-12 per spread, 60-70 per year of births. The viewer keeps its zoom between image jumps, so each jump needs a Reset View before zooming (otherwise the pan routine overshoots).

## BIRTHS 1844 — NINTH PASS (18 Oct 2026): images 62-67, mixed legibility
Method note: viewer image number and displayed content can disagree for several seconds after a jump (wait ≥9 s), so I anchor on the printed protocol numbers (right-page margin) and dates. Birth entries: Annus/Mensis/Dies/Locus — Nomen prolis — Parentes (father with village and house Nº, mother née) — Patrini (godparents) — Baptizans (Ladislaus Jagodich).
**NEW — Spudić father, house 16 (read clearly at ~4x zoom): image 66, right page, first entry: "1844, 20 Julii, Leskovac — Margaritha, filia legitima Catholica; parents Marcus Spudich ex Leskovac Nº 16 (conf. centurie Barillovichensis) & Catharina nata Sivičić; patrini Michael Matičich ex Leskovac Nº 8 & Catharina nata Meas…"** (godfather's house number and godmother's surname uncertain). This is the same house (Nº 16) as the widower Marko Spudić of 1849 (aged 45, m. Jane, widow of Mate Bellavić); Catharina Sivičić was probably his first wife, so Marcus/Marko Spudić of Nº 16 and Joannes Spudich of Nº 16 (father of Vid b. 1846) are two Spudić men in one house (probably brothers).
**Mother née Spudić: image 64 or 65 (spring 1844), right page, protocol no. 31:** father "Nicolaus Gojak ex Mali(?)… Nº 3(?)", mother "Dorothea nata Zpudich(?)" (legibility moderate). A Gojak–Spudić link; compare Mijo Spudić (Nº 17) marrying Kata Gojak of Nalinac in 1855.
**Godparent hits:** image 65 right, protocol 42: "Petrus Zpudich ex Leskovatz Nº 11(?)/4(?)"; image 62 right, entry 21 (Feb 1844): father "Georgius Spu…dich(?) ex Svrča(?) Nº 14(?)" with godfather "Mathias Spudich(?) ex Svrča Nº 4" — a Spudić branch of another village, uncertain.
**Pages read for Spudić/Polović (father or mother) in the parents column:** 62 (both, Feb 1844): as above; 63-64 (Apr-May 1844): moderate; 65 left (May 1844, protocol 35-40): none; 65 right (protocol 41-46): none; 66 left (Jul 1844, 47-52?): none at limited legibility; 66 right: Marcus Spudich above, rest limited legibility; 67 (Aug-Oct 1844, protocols 59-69): only SCANNED at low zoom (too blurry to rule out Spudić; not a nil).
**Katarina b. 1844 (Spudić Nº 16, father Joannes, mother Anna Maglich): NOT found** in images 62-67. 1844 runs to roughly images 68-70 (not read).
**Not done:** 1842 births (Jelena), Polović births 1836/1838, deaths before 1858.

## BIRTHS 1844 COMPLETED + JAN-FEB 1845 — TENTH PASS (19 Oct 2026): images 67, 68, 69 (read at 2-4 zoom steps, 6-8 s waits; image label and content verified by protocol numbers and dates)
**KATARINA FOUND — image 68, right page, protocol no. 77: "1844, 9 Decembris, Leskovac — Catharina, filia legitima Catholica; parents Joannes Bapt. Spudich ex Leskovac Nº 17(?) (conf. centuriae Barillovichensis) & Anna nata Maglich uxor, ambo Catholici; patrini Georgius Spudich ex Leskovac Nº 17(?) (conf.) & Catharina nata Ma…ovich."** House number reads 17 (once clear, once less so); Vid's own baptism (1846) was recorded earlier as Nº 16 — the 16/17 reading needs one more look at both entries. Anna née Maglich = Vid b. 1846's mother, so Katarina b. 1844 is his sister (confirmed from the register). Baptizer Ladislaus Jagodich.
**Other Spudich entries on 68:** left page bottom, "1844, 10 Novembris — Petrus; parents Joannes Bapt. Spudich ex Leskovac Nº 4(?) & Margaritha nata Mat…ković(?); patrini Georgius Laš… ex Kač? Nº 10 & Anna nata Matičić" (a second Joannes Bapt. Spudich, or the same man's house misread; flagged uncertain). Left page top, entry 1 (Oct 1844), patrini include "Dorothea nata Spudich(?)". Right page protocol 78 (11 Dec 1844), patrini "Paulus Terg… Nº 8 + Magdalena nata Spudich(?)".
**Image 67 right (Oct 1844), protocol 68: Dorothea b. 3 Oct 1844, father Lucas Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 15 (conf.), mother Hellena nata Matičich** (clear). Image 67 left (24-29 Aug 1844): no Spudić parents; godfather Petrus Zpudich of Leskovac on entry 4.
**Image 69 left (Annus 1845 begins; Jan 1845):** 21 Jan 1845 Marcus, father Josephus Zpudich Nº 6(?) & Margaritha nata Zmudich/Zpudich(?) (maiden name unclear); patrini Georgius Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 15 & Anna nata Ser…ović. Other Jan entries not Spudić.
**Image 69 right (Jan-Feb 1845), several Spudich entries (house numbers moderately legible):** (a) top entry, a girl, father Nicolaus Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 5(?) & Barbara nata Zpudich(?); patrini **Marcus Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 16 & Catharina nata Sivičić** (Marko Spudić N° 16 again); (b) "Vitus" (b. early 1845, a different Vid), father Thomas Meaš… ex Barillovich Nº 20, mother Catharina nata Spu…dich(?) (surname partial); (c) bottom: "Nicolaus", father Nicolaus Zpudich Nº 4 (or 9) ex Leskovac & Dorothea nata Šekilla?; patrini Georgius Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 17 & Catharina nata Malovich; (d) final entries not Spudić.
**Summary for 1844:** Spudić fathers: Marcus N° 16 (Margaritha, 20 Jul), Lucas N° 15 (Dorothea, 3 Oct), Joannes Bapt. N° 17? (Catharina/Katarina, 9 Dec), Joannes Bapt. N° 4? (Petrus, 10 Nov); mother née Spudich: Dorothea (wife of Nicolaus Gojak, spring). Images 62-68 cover Jan-Dec 1844; image 70 (1845, Feb on) not read.
**Still to do:** Jelena (b. 1842) and Polović births (Juraj 1836, Jelena 1838); Spudić deaths before 1858; re-check the 16 vs 17 house number for Joannes Bapt. in Vid's 1846 baptism (image 81 left) and Katarina's entry (68 right).

## BIRTHS 1842 — ELEVENTH PASS (19 Oct 2026): image 54 (Nov-Dec 1842), both pages read at 3-4 zoom steps
**JELENA FOUND — image 54, right page, first entry, protocol no. 72: "1842, Decembris (the day reads 9°), Leskovac — Hellena, filia legitima Catholica; parents Joannes Bapt. Zpudich ex Leskovac(Kovač?) Nº 16, conf. centuriae Barillovichensis, & Anna nata Maglich uxor, ambo Catholici; patrini Joannes Evang. Bennich ex Novaki Nº 4 & Anna nata Hrošević(?)."** House number reads Nº 16 clearly here. So the same couple (Joannes Bapt. Spudich N° 16 + Anna Maglich) had Jelena Dec 1842, Katarina 9 Dec 1844 (image 68; house read 17, probably 16), and Vid Nov 1846 (image 81, N° 16): all three siblings of Vid b. 1846 are now confirmed in the register as one household. Image 54 left (1-13 Nov 1842): no Spudić parents (Joannes Evang. Laškač Nº 11, Joannes Evang. Gojak of Banske selo Nº 2, Georgius Laš… Nº 10, etc.). 54 right other entries (protocols 73-77): none Spudić (Mathias Tergović Nº 19, Emericus Matičić Nº 20, Georgius Dujak? Nº 3, Josephus Savić Nº 6, Petrus Bernović? Nº 5).
**Births now covered for Spudić parents:** 1842 Nov-Dec (54), all of 1844 (62-68), Jan-Feb 1845 (69). Not covered: 1832-1842 Oct, 1843, 1845 Mar-1857 (except the 1846 baptisms read earlier: images 78 and 81).
**Polović siblings (Juraj 1836, Jelena 1838) NOT read.** Estimated 7 images per year: 1836 ≈ images 6-12, 1838 ≈ images 20-26.

## DEATHS — PROBE ONLY (19 Oct 2026): nothing read for Spudić
Image 560 is a tabular Latin death register (columns: date, name/surname, age, sacraments, burial; 7 entries per page, 14 per spread), entry dates in the 1830s (year digits not read at this zoom); image 520 was prose Latin (earlier probe), image 620 tabular Croatian 'Defuncti' (1850, earlier probe). The deaths run roughly images 515-644 (about 130 images, 1782-1857), unindexed. A full Spudić death search would need ~2 screenshots per page, i.e. ~500 screenshots; not attempted. **No Spudić death before 1858 has been read yet** (so neither a Stephen/Stjepan Spudić death nor Janko/Joannes Bapt. Spudić's death date is established).

## HOUSE-NUMBER RE-CHECK + SPUDIĆ DEATHS 1847 — TWELFTH PASS (20 Oct 2026)
**House number 16 vs 17 (births):** image 81 left, 15 Nov 1846 (Vid): "Joannes Bapt. Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 16 … & Anna nata Maglich", patrini Thomas Čar… ex Čarovo selo Nº 3 & (Margaritha? née Zpudich?); the next entry (17 Nov 1846, Hellena of Michael Šeketa Nº 14) has godfather "Michael Zpudich ex Leskovac Nº 16". Image 68 right, 9 Dec 1844 (Katarina), re-read at 5x: "Joannes Bapt. Zpudich ex Leskovač Nº 17 … & Anna nata Maglich" — the 7 is clear. Image 54 right, Dec 1842 (Hellena): Nº 16. So the same household is Nº 16 in 1842, 1846, 1847 and Nº 17 once (1844); other Spudić households are also recorded as 15, 16, 17 with scribal variation. Treat Nº 16 as the household's number; the 1844 "17" is probably a scribal slip.
**DEATH OF JOANNES BAPT. SPUDICH FOUND — image 609, right page, protocol no. 67: "1847, 23° Novembris — Obiit Joannes Bapt. Spudich ex Leskovac Nº 16, maritatus, conf. centuriae Barillovichensis; age 44; sacraments (sub Nº 203); sepultus in coemeterio parochiali die 24° circa vesperam, facultate chirurgi."** So the father of Vid b. 1846, Jelena (1842), Katarina (1844) died aged 44 (b. ~1803) on 23 Nov 1847, when Vid was one year old. Anna Maglich's death was not looked for.
**Other Spudić deaths 1847 (images 606-609, Feb-Nov 1847, both pages read, names in the left column mostly clear):**
- 606 left: 14 Mar 1847 Margaretha Zpudich, maritata, Leskovac Nº 4, age 25 (probably wife of a Spudić at Nº 4; Petrus b. 10 Nov 1844 was her son).
- 607 left: Apr-May 1847 Barbara, daughter of Mathias Zpudich of Nº 4, age 14; 5 May(?) 1847 Thomas, son of Nicolaus Spudich of Nº 3, age 2.
- 607 right: 30 Jun 1847 **Hellena, daughter of Joannes Bapt. Spudich, Leskovac Nº 16, age 4 (febris)** = Vid's sister Jelena b. Dec 1842.
- 608 right: 10 Sep 1847 Matthias, son of Petrus Spudich of Nº 4, age 2.
- 609 left: ~1 Oct 1847 Margaritha, daughter of Marcus Spudich of Leskovac Nº 17(16?), age 3-6 (b. 20 Jul 1844 at Nº 16; dysentery season); ~1/7 Oct 1847 Mathias, son of Petrus Spudich Nº 4, age 2 (possibly the same as the 10 Sep entry or a second child).
- 609 right: 7 Nov 1847 Hellena, daughter of Georgius Spudich of Leskovac Nº 17; 23 Nov 1847 Joannes Bapt. (above). No Marcus, Lucas or Josephus Spudich death seen in these pages.
Dates/ages of 1847 deaths read at 3x zoom from the left of each page; house numbers on the Spudić entries are moderately clear. A dysentery/fever epidemic Jun-Dec 1847 explains the cluster.
**Where this leaves the Vid question:** the father of Vid b. 15 Nov 1846 is Joannes Bapt. (Ivan/Janko) Spudich of Nº 16, died 23 Nov 1847. The 2 Mar 1851 groom Vid "sin pokojnoga Janka" (image 492) cannot be this child (he would be 4); it must be another Vid (b. ~1828-31), son of another late Janko/Joannes (possible at house 3). **Do not merge the two Vids.**
**Not read:** deaths Dec 1847-1857 and before Feb 1847 (images ~610-644, 515-605); Anna Maglich's death; Stephen/Stjepan Spudić's death.
