Frequently asked

Why does Sky Warden show different numbers than my other weather app?

Because it isn't showing one model — it's reconciling several of the world's leading forecast models into a single consensus. When they agree, you get a confident answer. When they disagree, Sky Warden shows the spread instead of hiding it behind one confident-looking number. Tap the confidence pill at the top to see each source's value side by side.

What does the confidence percentage mean?

It's how closely the forecast models agree right now — measured from their actual values, not a marketing figure. A calm ⓘ means they vary only slightly (still basically aligned); an amber ⚠️ means there's a real split worth a look. Tap it to see exactly which reading they differ on.

The tide, sea temperature or radar isn't showing.

Tide and marine data only appear where a provider covers your coastline, so inland locations won't show them (the scene switches to a land view there). Live radar depends on ground-radar coverage for your area — a gap means no radar in range, not necessarily no rain. Check that you have a network connection and try pulling down to refresh.

How do I turn rain notifications on or off?

Rain-approaching alerts are optional and evaluated on your device. You can allow or deny notifications when first prompted, and change it any time in iOS Settings ▸ Sky Warden ▸ Notifications.

Why does it want my calendar?

Only to flag weather that might affect your outdoor events (a beach day, a hike). Your calendar is read entirely on your device and never leaves it. It's optional — the rest of the app works without it. Manage access in iOS Settings ▸ Sky Warden ▸ Calendars.

Can I change temperature units or my location?

Yes. Units (°C / °F) are in Settings, and you can re-run first-time setup there too. Tap the place name at the top to search for a different location, or use your current location.

The forecast looks stale or won't load.

Pull down on the main screen to refresh. If it persists, check your connection — Sky Warden needs the internet to fetch from its data providers. Force-quitting and reopening the app also clears a stuck load.

How is my privacy handled?

No accounts, no tracking, no ads. Your location is used only to fetch weather and is never tied to your identity; your calendar never leaves your device. Full details on the privacy page.
