Marico
A substantial Booyzen farming district — and this archive can no longer say whose. Seven Booyzen claims for compensation as burghers were filed here in 1903–04, and the Booyzen children who died in the Johannesburg and Vereeniging camps came from farms in this district. This entry used to call them "emphatically someone else's". That judgement rested on the belief that this family was in the Cape until about 1907 — and the 1876 Sterfkennis at Rustenburg, one district east, shows it was not. No document links this family to any of the seven claims. No document rules it out either. Unresolved is the honest word. 13 SEPTEMBER 2026: and now a documented Booysen marriage IN the district. Hendrik Stephanus Booysen — seventh child on the 1876 Sterfkennis, son of the direct ancestor — married Charlotta Elizabetha Dormehl at ZEERUST, the principal town of Marico. It still links this family to none of the seven compensation claims. It does mean the last of the three districts has had one of these people standing in it, and the sentence this archive withdrew was wronger than it knew.
