His own death notice, TAB estate 14380, names HIS mother as ELIZABETHA BOOYSEN, BORN VAN DER MERWE — which resolves this archive’s oldest “Serious” contradiction, because his father’s recorded wife Anna Maria van der Merwe died three years before he was born. A FARMER, “Dutch”, married twice — Anna Catharina Johanna Olivier, then Charlotta Elizabetha Dormehl — and married last at ZEERUST, in the district of Marico. He died in his son-in-law’s house.
The 1876 notice lists eight children and names no mother for any of them. They are drawn under this marriage because it is the only one recorded — not because the document says so.
NO CHILDREN BY HIM. This archive drew his four children here for a month because it could name this marriage and not the other. She was fifty-one at the wedding; and her own 1902 death notice lists SIX children — two van Stadens and four Rooses — and not one Booysen.
This archive filed her for a week as a stranger called Anna Johanna Booijzen BORN ALBERTS who died at BOEKFONTEIN. Both readings were wrong, and together they kept a documented wife and two documented children off this family.

She is Anna Catharina Johanna OLIVIER, she died at BRAKFONTEIN — the family's own farm, where the archive's oldest document was written — and she is the first wife of Hendrik Stefanus Booijsen. The maiden name reads Oliefier and contains no b, r, t or s; her son gives OLIVIER on the 1908 notice. Two misreadings on one page kept a documented wife, seven children and a whole Olivier line off this site for a week. → A document read past what it says 13 Sep 2026 “Hendrik Stefanus Booysen had four children” He had at least seven.…

…Serious Petrus Jacobus remarried and the second wife is missing from the tree. Two “sons” belong to her. → Anna Maria van der Merwe (1785–1825) Dies before 8 March 1825 — but Hendrik Stefanus is recorded born 23 August 1829. Resolved RESOLVED, 13 September 2026. The second marriage is no longer unrecorded. Hendrik Stephanus Booysen's own 1908 death notice — Transvaal estate 14380 — names his mother as ELIZABETHA BOOYSEN, BORN VAN DER MERWE, and gives his age as seventy-nine years eleven months at 11 May 1908, which puts his birth about June 1828, three years after the first wife died. Two van der Merwe wives in succession. The contradiction was never a contradiction; it was a missing row.…
