…Here are three named Mountjoys in the right district, twenty-six years after her death. Answered They are the descendants of Johanna Catharina Mountjoy's brother. George Mountjoy (b. 1823, Cradock), saddle maker , married Maria Sophia Botha at Cradock in 1848 and had thirteen children. Hercules Johannes (the father at the 1889 font) and James/Jakobus Jonathan (the witness, who died at Barkly East in 1937) are two of his sons. The child baptised that day, George Mountjoy (1889–1963) , was a second cousin of the Booyzen daughter baptised in the same register three weeks earlier.…
