- named — 25 Aug 1842 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “Thirty-two, a contadino of strada Camellara. HIS SURNAME WAS PUBLISHED HERE AS «CIOFFI» UNTIL 20 SEPTEMBER 2026 AND IT IS NOT CIOFFI. The control is two lines below it in the same act: GIOVANNI CIOFFI, written with the unmistakable double-f ligature and its long descender. This word has no such ligature. It reads «Gasparo» — a capital with a descending loop, «a», a long ſ, then «aro».
Gasparo is an Arienzo surname, not a guess: the 1834 death register has Elena Lettieri, «widow of ANGELO GASPARO», and the same volume records a strada Gasparro. The reading is probable and is not settled — at 1,622 pixels across a half page, which is where this filming stops, the capital will not separate from a C.
