Luca Crisci

What the registers say

• death — 16 Jan 1829 , Arienzo
“«è morto nella sua propria casa LUCA CRISCI, di anni SESSANTA, marito di ANTONIA MORGILLO, nato in Arienzo, di professione contadino, domiciliato ivi, figlio di GIOACCHINO CRISCI Defunto, di professione contadino, domiciliato ivi, e di FRANCESCA FALCO Defunta, domiciliata ivi» — act 9, image 7 RIGHT, died 16 January 1829 at twenty-four hours. Born about 1769.

A SECOND CHILD FOR A HOUSEHOLD THAT HAD ONE, and the second document it has ever had. He is ANIELLO's brother — seventy-six in July 1843 gives about 1767, two years apart, the same two parents.

He was married: ANTONIA MORGILLO, another Crisci–Morgillo tie in a town where this archive keeps finding them.

And both parents are «Defunto» and «Defunta» here, which moves their deaths from «before 1843» to before January 1829 — fourteen years.

Found from the 1829 tavola and then read from the act, which is the order this archive insists on: the index produced the candidate and the leaf produced the record. The index spelt him neither Crisci nor Cioffi clearly; the act does.

This row replaces an index-only placeholder raised a few hours earlier the same day. That one read «C[?]ffi LUCA … [figlio di] GIOACCHINO e FALCO FRANCESCA» from the 1829 tavola, was published as PROBABLE, and said in terms that the surname was in the Crisci/Cossi/Cioffi trap and that only the act could settle it. The act settled it. The placeholder is not kept beside this one, because two rows for one man is how a person gets counted twice — which this archive did to an Anna Falco and found out the same day.”
