What the registers say

  • named as dead — 12 Feb 1850 , Arienzo, strada Camellara
“A COUPLE THIS ARCHIVE HAS QUOTED TWICE AND NEVER GIVEN A HOUSEHOLD. They exist here only inside two act quotations — their son MICHELE's marriage of 12 February 1850 and their son FRANCESCO's of August 1854 — and neither put them anywhere a reader could find them. That is the shape this archive has already had to correct three times: the documents were harvested and the family was not held.

«figlio di RAFFAELE FALCO Defunto, di professione simile, domiciliato ivi» — 1850, with the capital R magnified for the first time on 20 September 2026, which is what separated MICHELE (son of Raffaele) from MICHELANGELO (son of Pasquale).

HE IS NOT THE RAFFAELE FALCO OF ANGELA ROSA MORGILLO, generation four, who was declaring a birth at Arienzo in 1847. Dead before February 1850, a contadino of strada Camellara; his own parents are not named in either act.

    ---

    ## THIS HOUSEHOLD RESTS ON A READING THAT WAS OVERTURNED ON 22 SEPTEMBER 2026, AND IT IS LEFT STANDING SO THE CORRECTION CAN BE READ AGAINST IT

It was created on 21 September, out of two acts that call a father RAFFAELE: Michele Falco's marriage of 12 February 1850 and Francesco Falco's of August 1854. The second of those two men has since been identified, and his father was PASQUALE.

The chain is three records this archive already held. RAFFAELA FALCO, daughter of Giuseppe Falco and Antonia di Guida, married FRANCESCANTONIO FALCO, son of PASQUALE FALCO and Chiara Rivetti, on 6 July 1832 — read from the act. She died on 20 April 1854, aged thirty-four, of strada Camellara, and the register calls her «moglie di FRANCESCO FALCO». Four months later, in August 1854, a FRANCESCO FALCO of strada Camellara married again as «vedovo di RAFFAELA FALCO».

One Raffaela Falco, one widower, one street, four months apart. Francesco of 1854 is Francescantonio of 1832, and his father was Pasquale Falco. The same man is called FRANCESCO in his own children's death acts of 1832, 1836 and 1838 and FRANCESCANTONIO in his marriage act and his son's birth act — in the same registers, in the same years.

SO «FIGLIO DEL FU RAFFAELE» IN THE 1854 ACT IS WRONG, and the 1850 act says the same thing about a MICHELE whose christening name the parish gives as MICHELE ANGELO ANTONIO. Whether that second «Raffaele» is the same slip is not yet proved and is not claimed here. See work-list row 87.”
