Justa Pastora LERENA (daughter of Sancho)
A DAUGHTER OF SANCHO LLERENA AND MARIA FERNANDEZ, and so a SISTER OF DON LUIS LERENA - found 14 September 2026 and previously unknown to this archive. Named in the Cordon baptism of her son on 13 December 1831 as "Justa Pastora Lerena, natural de CANELONES", wife of Manuel Zeferino Barros of Pernambuco. Her son's godparents were the PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC and his wife. A SECOND CHILD, October 1833, at the Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepcion - and its act names her parents FRANCISCO LERINA and Maria Fernandez, where her first child's act of 1831 said SANCHO LLERENA. She is the person through whom the alternation became visible. Her second child's godparents were ABELINO and DOMINGA LERENA. HER MARRIAGE IS NOW DATED: 3 NOVEMBER 1830, at the Cordon - to MANUEL BARROS, with her parents given as Sancho Llerena and Maria Fernandez and her birthplace as Canelones. Which puts THIRTEEN MONTHS between the wedding and the font at which FRUCTUOSO RIVERA stood godfather to her first child, in the same parish, on 13 December 1831. The index has been read and the image has not, so the date is SECONDARY; her parentage is PRIMARY from the 1831 act. AND THE ACT ITSELF IS NOW READ, not merely its index. THREE GAINS IN ONE SENTENCE: she was already living at the Cordon before she married there; her mother's matronymic TRESGUERRAS is on a document for the first time; and the date is no longer index-level. The parish is DAMASO ANTONIO LARRANAGA'S - he is marrying another couple on the same page. A SECOND CHILD OF HERS IS FOUND, and her own father is written FRANCISCO on his act. AURELIO EUSEBIO BARROS LERENA, born 14 September 1833 and baptised at the Catedral on 19 October, with her own brother and sister - ABELINO LERENA and DOMINGA LERENA - as his godparents. So she has two documented children by Manuel Zeferino Barros: Juan Facundo Frutuoso (1831) and Aurelio Eusebio (1833). AND THE TWO ACTS DISAGREE ABOUT WHERE SHE WAS BORN: 1831 calls her 'natural de CANELONES', 1833 'natural de MONTEVIDEO'. Two acts, two years apart, one parish. Neither is preferred here, though Canelones has the support of her sister Dominga's baptism there in 1804. Her father is written 'Fran.co Lerenas' on the 1833 act - see the note on Sancho's row and /hypotheses/, where the SANCHO-OR-FRANCISCO question is set out in full. It is not a stray datum: it is the third Francisco attestation, and as of 21 September the only one a human has read off the plate. A THIRD CHILD, AND THE SET NOW LOOKS LIKE A SET: 21 September 2026. HILARIO, baptised at Canelones on 19 April 1835, joins JUAN FACUNDO FRUTUOSO (1831) and AURELIO EUSEBIO (1833) - three sons by Manuel Zeferino Barros at roughly two-year intervals, and at every one of the three fonts the godparents are her own brothers and sisters: Frutuso Ribera - President Fructuoso Rivera, spelled the priest's way - and Bernardina Fragoso in 1831 were the exception, Abelino and Dominga Lerena stood in 1833, and Pedro Antonio Lerena and Vicenta Vega in 1835. AND THE PLACES MOVE WITH HER: Cordon in 1831, the Catedral in 1833, back to CANELONES in 1835.
