What the registers say

  • named as living — 1810 , Arienzo, strada delli Cappuccini
“Alive in 1810, «di professione MASSARI DI CAMPAGNA» with her husband — the same trade the register gives Giuseppe Falco and Antonia di Guida in 1809 and 1811, and a step above the contadini and braccianti who fill these pages.

SHE IS NOT THE ANNA CARFORA THIS ARCHIVE ALREADY HELD. That one was already dead by May 1826, the wife of Ignazio Sposito and mother of Rosa Sposito; this one is alive in 1810 and married to Saverio Rivieri. The two could in principle be the same woman — nothing in either act rules it out — but nothing connects them either, and this archive does not merge on a name.”

  • widowed — 18 Dec 1812 , Arienzo
“Widowed in December 1812, two years after burying the infant Alessandro. The act names no surviving children.”
