What the registers say
- birth — 6 Apr 1825 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “THE CIVIL BIRTH ACT OF DON GIOVANNI FALCO, THE DEACON — NOT A NEW CHILD. The archive already held his PARISH BAPTISM of 6 April 1825, read from the image on 14 Sep 2026; this is the same day from the other archive, and it was checked against what was held before it was written down. WHAT THE CIVIL ACT ADDS, and the baptism could not: he was BORN that same day «alle ore DICIASSETTE, nella casa sua propria di abitazione», strada Camellara, and his father declared him at TWENTY-ONE HOURS THE SAME EVENING. «…è comparso GIUSEPPE FALCO, di anni QUARANTACINQUE, di professione CONTADINO, domiciliato in questo comune STRADA CAMELLARA, quale ci ha presentato un MASCHIO … che lo stesso è nato da ANTONIA DI GUIDA sua moglie legitima, di anni QUARANTA … il nome di GIOVANNI». Witnesses Arcangelo Giglio, 22, FALEGNAME of strada Sant'Andrea, and Domenico Papa, 50, contadino of strada Camellara. Officer Giovan Battista de Baptistis, secondo eletto; parish Sant'Andrea Apostolo, notamento returned the same 6 April”ANTENATI an_ua14422 (Arienzo, Nati 1825) atto 42, folio 301, img 44r-45l — READ FROM THE IMAGE
THE ONLY MAN IN THIS FAMILY KNOWN TO HAVE TAKEN ORDERS, from a household of contadini on strada Camellara. Born 6 April 1825 by both his civil act and his parish baptism, so he was TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AND SEVEN MONTHS, and the act rounds it to twenty-five. NOT the Giovanni Falco of this house who was buried on 27 November 1841 «annorum 24 circiter» — two brothers of one name, alive together for sixteen years. The declarants are GENNARO CIOFFI, 52, and FRANCESCO CIOFFI, 56, both contadini of strada Camellara. The act also keeps GIUSEPPE FALCO ALIVE in November 1849 at about seventy, with no «fu» before his name. ADDED TO THE HOUSEHOLD FILE 15 Sep 2026: the act was read from the image on 13 September and had lived only in this archive's corrections log since”ANTENATI an_ua14351 (Arienzo, Morti 1849) atto 66, img 42 — READ FROM THE IMAGE
