The funeral notices to-day contain announcements of the death of Mr. Aaron Wakefield, who for 32 years has carried on business as a plumber in Elizabeth street. Deceased was a sufferer from Bright's disease, compounded with other ailments. He died at his residence in Ann street, off Cooksley street, Breakfast Creek, at about 1 o'clock this morning. Mr. Wakefield, who had reached the age of 56 years, arrived in Brisbane by the General Hewitt in 1854, and has therefore been 42 years in the city. Immediately on arrival he entered into apprenticeship with his brother, Mr. Hiram Wakefield, then and still carrying on a plumber's business, and 10 years later established the works in Elizabeth street over which his name has continuously since appeared. He married the daughter of the late Mr. John Birch, who in the early days kept a grocery store on the site now occupied by the Opera House in Queen street. Deceased's wife survives him, as does his only daughter, Mrs. G. Harden, and his only son, who assisted him in business. The funeral is announced to leave Ann street at 3 o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
