Magdelena Elisabeth de Beer
Wife of Gerthardus Lodewikus. Her 1754 birth is what dates him at all — and her name, beside his, is what the 1876 notice puts on the record. That matters because a 1793 Cape will names a different “Jan Booysen, married to the late Magdalena de Beer”: the pairing was never unique, and now this line’s version of it is documented.

- 14 Sep 2026 — Magdelena Elisabeth de Beer was carried here under WikiTree's codes, b6c2 and b6c6
The codes are b5c2 and b5c6. de Villiers 1893 page 34 puts ZACCHARIAS DE BEER — her father — as the FIFTH child of Matthijs Andries de Beer, not the sixth, and Pieter van Zyl said so on G2G before the book was opened; reading page 34 confirmed it. The b6 is WikiTree's, and this archive repeated it for a day without checking it in print. It matters more than a digit: a de Villiers code is an address, and quoting the wrong one sends the next reader to the wrong family. Where this archive QUOTES the WikiTree profile it still says b6, because that is what the profile says — the error being reported is not the same as the error being made. Where it stands →
The Spine
…Seven generations up, the male line simply ends. One thing has changed here, and it is worth being precise about how little. Until the 1876 Sterfkennis was read, generation seven existed only because a family tree said so. It now exists because a nineteenth-century clerk wrote "Gerthardus Lödewikus Booijsen" and "Magdalena de Beer" on his son's death notice. See the line → 15 SEPTEMBER 2026 — AND THAT CLERK IS NOW THE ONLY THING HOLDING THIS ROW UP. De Villiers's printed Cape genealogy of 1893 places this Petrus Jacobus under a father called JAN , and Riël Smit confirms that de Villiers & Pama’s 1981 revision still does .…
Disputed
…The mother agrees; the father does not. Serious FOUR THINGS NOW POINT ONE WAY AND THE CHART HAS NOT BEEN MOVED. Riël Smit confirms from the 1981 revision — which this archive does not own — that Petrus Jacobus is still placed under Jan. Pieter van Zyl searched for a marriage between a Gerhardus Lodewicus and a Magdalena de Beer AND FOUND NONE. Jan was dead more than forty years before Petrus Jacobus died. And the disputed name sits NINE LINES LOWER ON THE SAME SHEET: line 12 lists eight children and the fifth is JAN GERTHARDUS LODEWIKUS BOOIJSEN — so the name in the parents' box is the back half of a son's name, and the half that was dropped is Jan.…

A dossier is every mention of a person anywhere in this archive, gathered automatically after the site is built and linked back to the page it appears on. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual — where two people share a name they share this page, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Nothing on a dossier page is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.
