Kwaggafontein

A farm with a school on it, and the whole of its correspondence with the government survives. Forty-eight files in TAB source OD, from 4 October 1897, when G.E. ter Haar of Kafferskraal asked for a teacher, to April 1900, when the teacher asked for his money to be sent to the landdrost and the war closed the file. The teacher was H. de Vries, fetched by wagon in December 1897. A JGL BOOYZEN is on eight of the forty-eight — the subsidy application, the book orders, all four quarterly returns, the explanation of a £61-6-0 deficit, and a letter of May 1899 arguing that £8 too little subsidy had been paid. He is the school's money man, and he is not identified.
