Andreana Crisci
Recorded in the household of Vincenzo Falco & Andreana Crisci.
Two children here carry one name — Raffaele Falco. In this parish that is usually not an error: a child who died was very often replaced by a later child given the same name. Luigi Cioffi and Mariantonia Venafra buried a Gaetana in 1839 and another Gaetana, aged four, in 1843. It is also exactly how a records-matcher invents one person out of two, which is why they are kept apart here and the reader is told.
What the registers say
- named , Arienzo, strada Camellara “aged 20 at her son Raffaele's birth in May 1818, so born about 1798 — the first record to give her an age”ANTENATI an_ua14415 img42r act47 [image number corrected 15 Sep 2026: the note it was copied from used ZERO-BASED harvest numbering]
- named in a birth act — 12 Sep 1826 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«ANDREANA CRISCI, di anni VENTOTTO, domiciliata ivi strada Camellara» — twenty-eight in September 1826 gives b. c.1798; her baptism is 30 Nov 1796. Two years out, the same direction as her husband's, in the same act”ANTENATI an_ua14423 (Arienzo, Nati 1826) atto 69, img 71 — READ FROM THE IMAGE
- named in a birth act — 19 Dec 1828 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«ANDREANA CRISCI, di anni VENTISETTE, domiciliata in strada Camellara» — twenty-seven in December 1828 gives b. c.1801; her baptism is 30 November 1796, so she was THIRTY-TWO. She was given TWENTY-EIGHT in September 1826: THE REGISTER MAKES HER A YEAR YOUNGER TWO YEARS LATER
HER SURNAME WAS QUOTED HERE AS «CRISPI» UNTIL 20 SEPTEMBER 2026. Magnified, the word is CRISCI: a capital C, a narrow r shoulder, an i, a long ſ with its descender, then ci. A «p» would need a closed bowl to the right of its descender and there is none. «Crispi» appears nowhere else in this archive, and she is Crisci in every other act she is in.”ANTENATI an_ua14425 (Arienzo, Nati 1828) atto 118, img 122l — READ FROM THE IMAGE - named in a birth act — 25 Mar 1824 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«ANDREANA CRISPI, di anni VENTISETTE» — twenty-seven in March 1824 against a baptism of 30 November 1796 is EXACTLY RIGHT. Set beside the rest of her series it is the sharpest thing in it: 27 in 1824 (correct), 28 in 1826 (one year under), 27 in 1828 (five years under). SHE IS GIVEN THE SAME AGE FOUR YEARS APART, and the correct one comes first”ANTENATI an_ua14421 atto 31 img 33l — READ FROM THE IMAGE
- named in a birth act — 21 Dec 1819 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«d'Anni VENTIDUE» — twenty-two, so b. c.1797. This is the Andreana Crisci who married Vincenzo Falco in December 1814, on his own street and in his own house; she is not the other Andreana Crisci this archive keeps separate.”ANTENATI an_ua14416 img71l act134
- named as living — 16 Dec 1864 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«e di ANDREANA CRISCI, domiciliata ivi» — alive, unmarked, on the same evidence as her husband. Her latest previous sighting was her son Raffaele's marriage act of 7 March 1844.”ANTENATI an_ua14366 img51r atto91
- named as living — 19 Sep 1861 , Arienzo “«e di ANDREANA CRISCI, domiciliata ivi» — alive, unmarked, on the same evidence. This is the Andreana Crisci who married Vincenzo Falco in December 1814, not the other woman of the name this archive keeps separate.”ANTENATI an_ua14265 img18r act16
- named as living — 21 May 1846 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “HER TRADE, FOR THE FIRST TIME: FILATRICE — a spinner. «e di ANDREANA CRISCI, di professione filatrice, domiciliata ivi». Alive and unmarked, and given the same way again on 29 March 1847. This archive had her age five times and her occupation never.”ANTENATI an_ua14250 img15r act14
- civil marriage act — 15 Oct 1814 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«è comparsa egualmente ANDREANA CRISCI, di anni DICIA-» — and the rest of the numeral is lost in the gutter shadow, so it is left unread rather than guessed. What survives restricts it to DICIASSETTE or DICIANNOVE, and her baptism of 30 November 1796, found in her own marriage dossier, makes her SEVENTEEN on the day. She is «di professione contadina, domiciliata in questa stessa Comune, e strada CAMELLARA, FIGLIA MINORE» — a minor, which is why her parents had to consent before a notary. The banns are given twice over, here and in the dossier, and agree: «la prima a' dì UNDICI, giorno di Domenica, del cadente mese di SETTEMBRE, anno corrente, d'ore SEDICI, e la seconda a' dì DICIOTTO, giorno di Domenica, dello stesso mese ed anno, d'ore SEDICI».”ANTENATI an_ua14218 (Arienzo, Stato civile napoleonico, Matrimoni 1814) img 9, left page, atto 16 — READ FROM THE IMAGE
- named in a birth act — 10 Oct 1832 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«nata da ANDREANA CRISCI sua moglie legittima, di anni TRENTASEI, domiciliata collo stesso» — thirty-six in October 1832 gives b. c.1796, and her baptism is 30 November 1796. Exact. The same office had made her twenty-eight in 1826 and twenty-seven in 1828, each of them wrong by four or five years. The surname is CRISCI in this hand without ambiguity: a capital C, an r shoulder, an i, a long ſ, then ci.”ANTENATI an_ua14429 (Arienzo, Nati 1832) atto 84, img 87r-88l — READ FROM THE IMAGE
- named in a birth act — 9 Sep 1838 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«nato da ANDREANA CRISCI sua moglie legittima, di anni QUARANTA, domiciliata collo stesso» — forty in September 1838 gives b. c.1798 against a baptism of 30 November 1796, two years out, where the same register had her exactly right six years earlier. She was forty-one, and bearing.”ANTENATI an_ua14435 (Arienzo, Nati 1838) atto 79, img 81r-82l — READ FROM THE IMAGE
- named in a birth act — 24 Mar 1830 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«nato da ANDREANA CRISCI sua moglie legittima, di anni TRENTA» — thirty in March 1830 gives b. c.1800 against a baptism of 30 November 1796: four years out, where two years later the same office had her exactly right.”ANTENATI an_ua14427 (Arienzo, Nati 1830) atto 42, folio 43, img 43r-44l — READ FROM THE IMAGE
- named as living — 13 Aug 1851 , Arienzo, strada Camellara “«e di ANDREANA CRISCI, di professione FILATRICE, domiciliata ivi» — alive on 13 August 1851, and with a trade of her own, which this archive has not had for her before. A filatrice spins; it is the commonest woman's trade in these registers and it is the first time generation three's wife is given one.”ANTENATI an_ua14255 img19r act14 — READ FROM THE IMAGE
Where this comes from
16 of the 18 relationships shown above are written in a record this archive has read. 2 come from the family tree and are unverified.
This page joins two records — one from the registers, one from the family tree — matched on the same generation of the direct line — she is the wife the line names, on both sides. Their years agree, which is what allowed the join.
Household: Vincenzo Falco & Andreana Crisci
Vincenzo Falco
Others of the same name
This parish repeats its names relentlessly — there are three Maria Falco and four Pasquale. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one.
- Andreana Crisci — Gennaro Espositelli & Andreana Crisci
