  “A SON OF THIS HOUSEHOLD THAT THIS ARCHIVE DID NOT HAVE — AND THE SECOND OF THEIR CHILDREN TO CARRY THE NAME.
  
  «…di professione contadino, domiciliato in questo Comune, strada CAMELLARA, e di SIMONE CIOFFI di anni cinquantadue, professione contadino … vicini del defunto, i quali hanno dichiarato che a detto nove del mese corrente di Ottobre ad ore sette, RAFFAELE, figlio di GIUSEPPE FALCO, ed ANTONIA DI GUIDA, di anni DUE, professione contadino, domiciliato strada Camellara, è morto nella sua propria casa».
  
  Two years old, so born about 1813. The first Raffaele Falco of this couple died at ten days on 26 February 1811; they gave the name again to a son born two years later, and he died too. [[register-order-proves-dates]]
  
  Both declarants are neighbours on strada Camellara, and one of them is a CIOFFI — the surname that marries this family in the next generation, when Raffaele Cioffi takes a Francesca Falco. No kinship is stated and none is claimed.”

  “HIS BIRTH ACT, FOUND THE DAY AFTER HIS DEATH ACT, AND IT SHOWS THE CLERK WHO BURIED HIM WAS WRONG ABOUT HIS AGE.
  
  «L'Anno mille ottocento quattordici, il dì 26 del mese di Maggio, ad ore dieci, avanti di noi VINCENZO MORGILLO Sindaco, ed Uffiziale dello Stato Civile del Comune di Corpo d'Arienzo, Provincia di Terra di Lavoro, è comparso GIUSEPPE FALCO, di anni TRENTA, di professione MASSARO DI CAMPAGNA, domiciliato in questa Comune, strada CAMELLARA, ed ha dichiarato che il giorno sopraindicato ad ore otto, è nato nella sua propria casa da lui dichiarante, e da ANTONIA DI GUIDA sua moglie legittima di anni VENTOTTO, un maschio che ci ha presentato. A cui si è dato il nome di RAFFAELE.»
  
  Born at eight in the morning on 26 May 1814; dead on 9 October 1815. The death act calls him «di anni DUE». He was sixteen and a half months old.
  
  HE WAS FOUND BY ELIMINATION, NOT BY LUCK. The birth registers for 1812 and 1813 had already been read act by act and hold no child of this household — 1812 holds no Falco at all. That left 1811 and 1814, and 1814 was read first because a clerk who rounds a sixteen-month-old up to two rounds in the direction that hides a 1814 birth.
  
  HIS NAME WAS GIVEN TWICE IN THIS HOUSEHOLD AND BOTH BOYS DIED. The first Raffaele Falco lived ten days in February 1811; this one lived seventeen months. [[the-founders-children]]”
