What the registers say

  • named as dead — 3 Jan 1811 , Arienzo, strada Camellara
“«figlio dalli furono GIUSEPPE FALCO, e ROSA SPOSITO» — dead by January 1811, and the father of a man born about 1747, so himself born around 1710–1725.

HE IS NOT THE GIUSEPPE FALCO THIS ARCHIVE ALREADY HOLDS. That Giuseppe Falco, the husband of Antonia di Guida, was alive on 26 February 1811 — seven weeks after this act — declaring his own infant son's death on this same street, and he was still alive in 1860. Two men of one name on one street, and this act puts one of them in his grave while the other buries a child.

If this archive ever reaches the generation above Matteo Falco, this is the name to test. It is not tested yet.”

Others of the same name

This parish repeats its names relentlessly — there are three Maria Falco and four Pasquale. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one.
