Dona Maria FERNANDEZ TRESGUERRAS (wife of Sancho)

Wife of Sancho Llerena and mother of Don Luis Lerena - which is where the "y Fernandez" in his name comes from. She stood godmother at her grandson Luis Eugenio's baptism in 1846. HER FULL NAME IS ON AN ACT, 14 September 2026 - and it vindicates a tree. Her daughter's marriage of 3 November 1830 names the bride "hija legitima de Sancho Llerena y de MARIA FERNANDEZ TRESGUERRAS". This archive has carried "Maria Josefa Fernandez Tresguerras" since its first week FROM A PUBLISHED TREE, marked secondary, with the matronymic unverified. The tree was right, and right about something no index anywhere gives. Which raises the standing of that same tree's other unopened claim - that she married Sancho at CANELONES on 8 JANUARY 1791. SHE IS ALSO THE ONE FIXED POINT IN HER HUSBAND'S IDENTITY: across fourteen records his forename alternates between Sancho and Francisco, and every single one of them names HER. The Geneanet trees give her more fully as MARIA JOSEFA FERNANDEZ TRESGUERRAS, and two of them add TERESA. Today's marriage act says only "Maria Fernandez Tresguerras" - but since that act has just vindicated the trees on TRESGUERRAS itself, the extra forenames are worth more than they were yesterday. Still tree-only, and not adopted. HER BIRTHPLACE AND HER PARENTS ARE NOW ON AN ACT, 15 September 2026. The 1811 baptism of her son Luis calls her "Dona MARIA FERNANDEZ natural de ASTURIAS" and names "abuelos maternos RODRIGO FERNANDEZ y ROSA FERNANDEZ" ASTURIAS confirms the Operativo Patagonia reading from a Uruguayan document - her family were of the 1778-1781 convoy, 41 Asturian founder families of which seven came from MORCIN, the concejo the trees give as her birthplace. And RODRIGO FERNANDEZ is the same man the 1812 padron records living in Sancho's household, aged 63, "asturiano" - so the household, the act and the trees agree on him from three directions. READ OFF THE PLATE 21 September 2026, where this row had rested on a MACHINE TRANSCRIPT since 14 September. Film 007713375 image 02410, Iglesia Matriz de Montevideo, the baptism of Luis Escolastico, 10 February 1811 - the only record in this archive that names Sancho's own parents. 'y de D.a MARIA [Fernandez] nat.l de ASTURIAS. ... id. mat.s RODRIGO FERNANDEZ y ROSA FERNANDEZ' - read off the plate. Her parents are named on this act and are now entered as people, which they had not been since the act was found on 14 September. HER BIRTHPLACE IN THIS REGISTER SAID 'Montevideo' UNTIL 21 SEPTEMBER 2026, AND THE ARCHIVE'S OWN WORKING LOG HAD SAID OTHERWISE FOR A WEEK. data/1811-luis-baptism-act.tsv recorded on 14 September that the act calls her 'natural de ASTURIAS', and the register was never changed. SO BOTH HALVES OF SANCHO'S HOUSEHOLD WERE SPANISH IMMIGRANTS, FROM OPPOSITE ENDS OF SPAIN - he from Andalusia, she from Asturias, meeting at Montevideo. That is a different family story from the one a Montevideo birthplace tells, and it is the one the earliest act gives. AND IT SHARPENS A CONTRADICTION FOUND THIS MORNING: the 1852 baptism of her granddaughter Josefina at the Union calls the paternal grandparents 'orientales'. An 1852 priest, describing two people who had been dead for decades, against the act of 1811 in which their own son is baptised. The 1811 act wins, and the 1852 'orientales' is recorded as a mistake of the record, not of this archive.
