A person of this surname, unplaced

Exmo Sr General Don Francisco de Paula MAGGESI

GODFATHER at the Catedral de Montevideo on 12 May 1827 to Lucinda Gregoria Ruiz de Carvallo, a granddaughter of Sancho Llerena. A general, styled Excelentisimo Senor. This archive now has FRUCTUOSO RIVERA at a font in 1831, an ORIBE bride in 1836, LAVALLEJA godparents in 1858, GENERAL PEDRO LENGUAS as a grandfather, and GENERAL MAGGESI here in 1827. No relationship to any of them is claimed; what is recorded is the company this family kept at its christenings. READ OFF THE PLATE 21 September 2026, where this row had rested on a MACHINE TRANSCRIPT. Film 007713376 image 00601, folio 150 - the baptism of 12 May 1827 at the Iglesia Matriz de San Felipe y Santiago de Montevideo. THE THIRD FAMOUS NAME THIS ARCHIVE CHECKED TODAY, AND THE THIRD TO HOLD. The act reads 'Fueron padrinos EL EXMO. SR. GRAL. [Don Francisco de Pa]ULA MAGGESI y D.a Carolina Amalia'. A machine that meets a name out of the history books will write it whether or not the page says so - that is how FRUCTUOSO RIVERA got printed over the 1831 act's own FRUTUSO RIBERA. Here, as with the Lavallejas of 1858, the page really does say it.
