Fidel LERENA (m. Maria Ruedas)
A FIDEL LERENA WITH A WIFE AND A GRANDSON, named on a Montevideo death registration of 1889. "Abuelos paternos FIDEL LERENA y MARIA RUEDAS" - the paternal grandparents of Victor Lerena, who died that year at twenty-eight. FIDEL is a rare forename in this family and appears exactly once elsewhere: Sancho Llerena's son, born about 1799. And this archive worked out only yesterday where that name came from - Don Fidel Rey of Montevideo, godfather at Agustina's baptism in 1795. WHETHER THIS FIDEL IS SANCHO'S SON IS NOT ESTABLISHED. Sancho's Fidel was born about 1799 and the Geneanet trees give him a death in 1822, at twenty-two or twenty-three. For this to be the same man, Pedro would have to be born by 1822 and fathering Victor at about forty. That is tight but possible, and the tree's 1822 is tree-only and has never been tested against a Montevideo burial. The alternative is a second Fidel Lerena at Montevideo, which nothing rules out. Recorded as a branch to test, not as a descent. This row said "THE TEST IS CHEAP AND HAS NOT BEEN RUN: a Montevideo marriage of FIDEL LERENA to MARIA RUEDAS, and a burial for Fidel around 1822." IT WAS RUN ON 20 SEPTEMBER 2026 AND BOTH HALVES CAME BACK EMPTY. No marriage of a Fidel Lerena to a Maria Rueda or Ruedas is indexed for Uruguay - control: the same query shape on Luis and Juanico returns the marriage act of 19 December 1864 as its first result. And no burial of a Fidel Lerena between 1815 and 1840 - control: Rodriguez in that window returns 62,026 records with real burials, so the shelf is not empty. THE SURPRISE IS WHICH WAY IT CUTS. The tree death of 1822 was the one thing that would have kept this Fidel apart from Sancho's son, and it is not in the record either. The two are still NOT merged - an unevidenced death is not evidence of survival - but nothing now separates them except the silence. See data/fs-session-2026-09-20.tsv. THE GRANDSON'S DATES ARE NOW EXACT, 20 September 2026: Victor Lerena, born 1861 at Montevideo, died 10 October 1889 - so the "twenty-eight" this row has carried is right to the year. His father is indexed PEDRO LORENA, which is the spelling the register already holds for him. The test that would settle Fidel himself was attempted on 20 September and could not be run - the API reached for it does not filter on a spouse surname. See data/fs-session-2026-09-20.tsv. READ OFF THE PLATE 21 September 2026, where this row had rested on a MACHINE TRANSCRIPT. Film 008165116 image 01442, folio 94 - Montevideo civil death registration No. 622 of 1889. 'Abuelos [paternos] FIDEL LERENA y MARIA RUEDAS' - on the plate, in the same hand that writes Pedro Lerena on the line above. Whether this Fidel is Sancho's son remains unestablished, and nothing on this plate bears on it.
No record here names a parent, spouse, child or sibling for this person. This archive calls that unplaced: held, named, shown with the record that produced them, and not tied to a household on anything less.
