Pedro LORENA (father of Victor, d. before 1889)

Named on his son's death registration of 1889 as already dead - "el finado era hijo [de] PEDRO LORENA y JOSEFA SEGUEIRA, orientales, FINADOS". His own parents are given: FIDEL LERENA and MARIA RUEDAS. The surname is written LORENA for him and LERENA for his son and his father in the same sentence, which is this family's ordinary behaviour in the records. WHETHER THIS FIDEL IS SANCHO'S SON IS NOT ESTABLISHED. Sancho's Fidel was born about 1799 and the Geneanet trees give him a death in 1822, at twenty-two or twenty-three. For this to be the same man, Pedro would have to be born by 1822 and fathering Victor at about forty. That is tight but possible, and the tree's 1822 is tree-only and has never been tested against a Montevideo burial. The alternative is a second Fidel Lerena at Montevideo, which nothing rules out. Recorded as a branch to test, not as a descent. READ OFF THE PLATE 21 September 2026, where this row had rested on a MACHINE TRANSCRIPT. Film 008165116 image 01442, folio 94 - Montevideo civil death registration No. 622 of 1889. THIS ROW'S CLAIM ABOUT THE SPELLING IS WRONG, AND THE PLATE SHOWS IT. The row said the surname 'is written LORENA for him and LERENA for his son and his father in the same sentence'. In the body of the act he is written LERENA, exactly like his son and his father: 'era hijo de PEDRO LERENA y Josefa Segueira'. LORENA is the MARGIN heading - 'Num. 622 Victor Lorena' - which is the clerk's index entry, not the sentence. So the family's ordinary confusion of L and Ll and Lor is real, but this particular instance of it was the archive reading a margin as though it were the text.
