Charles Petrus Barend Lowies

Her first husband, and estate 7081 — the OTHER number cited in the Remarks column of the 1905 marriage register. Born in the district of CRADOCK about 1849, within a year of David Schalk Booysen and in the same Karoo district; dead at Pretoria, where David Schalk had been widowed five years earlier. His parents were JAN LOWIES and ELISABETHA MARIA LUBBE, and he left TWELVE children. THE FILE IS NOW READ. He was a HAWKER, of GOEDEHOOP, PRETORIA — which is the exact address David Schalk Booyzen gave on the marriage register three weeks later, so the two men lived in the same place. Dutch, of the Cradock district, 56 years and 8 months, dead in the LUNATIC ASYLUM at Pretoria on 5 June 1905. Movables but no land, an estate over £100, and a will. Six of the twelve children were still minors. His widow signed the notice on 27 October and married David Schalk on 27 November.

A dossier is every mention of a person anywhere in this archive, gathered automatically after the site is built and linked back to the page it appears on. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual — where two people share a name they share this page, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Nothing on a dossier page is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.
