Crikvenica
Named for a church: the Pauline monastery of 1412, in the deed that first records the name.
Nikola IV Frankopan gave the monastery to the Pauline fathers on 14 August 1412. The order stayed four hundred years, until Joseph II dissolved it in 1786, and for that whole time it was Vinodol's school, pharmacy and library.
A harbour came in 1877, a bathing beach in 1888, the first hotel in 1891 — a Vinodol village that became an Austrian seaside resort inside one lifetime. The Gologorica branch reached here by way of Poreč.
