Gallignana
Gračišće
Eight household censuses across 150 years — the richest register series found anywhere in this project.
First recorded in 1199. Held by the Patriarch of Aquileia, then the counts of Gorizia, and from 1374 part of the Duchy of Pazin. Bishop Paskazije of Pićan consecrated the Gothic chapel here in 1486, in his own birthplace.
Glagolitic and Latin graffiti survive scratched into the chapel interior — Croatian, written in Croatian letters, inside a town the maps called Gallignana.
