Omiš
A former pirate town at the Cetina mouth, and the Dalmatian family's first seat — a De Franceschi owned a warship here by 1590.
The de Franceschi are said to have reached Dalmatia in the fourteenth century as an influential Italian noble house, and to have established themselves at Omiš, where Gaspar de Franceschi is recorded in 1590 as owner of the warship Vascello and later admiral of the fleet.
Zuane Ivan Franceschi sat on the town council here, and it was as an Omiš councillor that he pressed the Imotski refugees' case with the Venetian Provveditore Generale. His estate at Dobrč — today Pisak, along the coast — is where he sheltered them from January 1715.
