Pazin

The county town. Its baptism register opens in 1582 — the oldest book in this study.

Capital of the Habsburg County of Pazin from the late fourteenth century, and so the administrative centre for every village in this archive's Istrian half. Carlo De Franceschi sat for Pisino in the Imperial Constituent Parliament of 1848; his son Camillo attended the German gymnasium here.

One hundred and thirty-nine registers survive, but the 1643–1882 baptismal series is largely undigitised.
