Twenty-five Franceschi — the largest single concentration of any spelling of this name anywhere in Croatia.

Acta Croatica records about sixty people named Franceschi in Croatia today, in thirty households, against fifty in the middle of the last century — an increase of twenty per cent. They are Croats, from Split, and most were born at Split or Imotski.

This is the mirror image of the Istrian story. The Defranceschi of the Pazin area have fallen from about fifty mid-century to about ten; the Franceski of Rijeka from thirty to a single household. Only the Dalmatian branch is growing.
