Torrington

A brass town in the Naugatuck valley of Connecticut, and the largest American landing-place in this archive.

Twelve people of the name in Torrington. The New England brass and clock towns took Istrian and Trentino labour in the same decades that Brooklyn took the Gallignana families, and this is where a cluster of them settled.

Nothing here has yet been checked against a federal census or a naturalisation file. **That is the next step for this place**, and it is the method that worked for the Eleven in Brooklyn.
