…church at Visignano in 1736. Set this beside the Gologorica registers and the shape of the family's first century in Istria stops being mysterious. A «Dominus Josephus Defranceschi» stands godparent there through the 1760s and 1770s; a «Sig.r Piero De Franceschi da Gollogorizza» marries a noble Bembo at Valle in 1795. Brhan's article says exactly what that title meant for a Carnian family in Istria in that decade: not old standing, but a weaver's or pedlar's earnings turned into a vineyard, and the notary writing…

…January 1795. The three usual publications of banns having been dispensed with by the Lord Bishop of Parenzo as per his letter of etc., I, Don Angelo, canon Mitton, parish priest of this Collegiate church of the diocese of Parenzo, questioned Signor Piero De Franceschi of Gollogorizza and Signora Anna, daughter of the noble Signor Tommaso Bembo, and having their mutual consent in words of the present tense, joined them in matrimony in the presence of many, and especially of Signor Pietro Basan of Lindar and of Damian…
…Bembo is a Venetian patrician name, and there were Bembo at Valle. A De Franceschi of the bishop of Pedena's village marrying into that, in 1795, is a step this archive had no evidence of. He is a signore «il Sig.r Piero De Franceschi» — not a plain name in the register but a title, and the same title the parish priest gives the bride's noble father a line later. It sits with what the Gologorica registers already show: a Dominus Josephus Defranceschi standing godparent through the 1760s…

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. **Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual**: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
