Graves

Where the line ends up. Every burial this archive has found in Australia, with its plot — and what the plots do and do not prove about who lies beside whom.

Nudgee Catholic Cemetery, Brisbane. Eight thousand kilometres and nine generations from strada Camellara, this is where the family the Arienzo registers describe is actually buried. 15 burials across three surnames — Falco, Bucolo and Ferrara — and the plot numbers are the interesting part.

Chapel 082 holds generation seven, together. CHAP-082-B1 and B2 are Filomena Annecchino and Carminantonio Falco — husband and wife, adjacent niches, buried three years apart in 1985 and 1988.

And the vault row V-0946 to V-0949 holds four more: Raffaele Falco (1988), Caterina Falco (2004), and Francesca Zampiello (2022) at V-0949. Adjacency is evidence of intention, not of descent — a family buys plots together — but the archive records the numbers because they are the only thing at Nudgee that encodes a relationship at all.

Chapel 070 is not the family's chapel. Paolino and Elisa Ferrara lie there in adjoining niches. Ferrara is also the Zampiello maternal surname — and the connection is untested. Being in a different chapel from the Falco is not evidence either way. See Ferrara.

What this page cannot do

Nudgee's search answers only to a POST, so a burial there has no address of its own — not one row on this page can be linked to its source, and the register says so on every one of them rather than pretending otherwise.

And there are no photographs. Nobody has stood in chapel 082 with a camera. Of everything this archive is missing, that is the cheapest to fix and the least likely to survive another generation — headstones weather, and the people who know which niche is whose are the ones in the living roster.
