The line, the regimes it lived under, and — laid underneath — the exact years of register this archive has read act by act. The gaps in that band are the honest part.

Three bands, and the bottom one is the useful one. The first is who was alive. The second is who was in charge. The third is what has actually been read — every year of the Arienzo registers swept line by line. Where that band is empty, this archive is guessing or silent, and it says so rather than filling in.
