Why this page exists
A pedigree keeps one child a generation and throws the rest away. Cousins go first, and the families who married in go with them. This page is the opposite of a pedigree: it is a list of every surname that joined this line, from the Crisci who married into it at Arienzo in the seventeen-hundreds to the Sicilian and Calabrian families who joined it in Brisbane in the twentieth century.
The living are named now — but only named. This page still counts 81 living people separately, and still shows no date, no place and no detail for any of them, because that is the rule: a name and a relationship, nothing else. Their names are on The People under the Living filter. What you will find below is their dead: parents, grandparents, the ones who made the crossing. The rarest name in this family by a wide margin — about 123 bearers in the world, and in the Italian records only one town: Arpaia, eight hundred people, four kilometres from Arienzo across the provincial border. Two Falco brothers of Forchia married two Zampiello sisters of Arpaia and both couples came to Brisbane; two more sisters followed, marrying into Servodio and Miceli. The family that married into this line twice in one generation — Andreana Crisci to Vincenzo Falco, and Arcangelo Crisci to Vincenzo's sister Anna. There are two Arcangelo Crisci alive at once, aged fifty-two and thirty in 1817, and the 1820 register settled which was which. They are of strada Camellara, the family's own street.

A Forchia name, and the one that brought this line north out of Arienzo: Carminantonio Falco married Filomena Annecchino, born 10 April 1897, and the couple are buried side by side at Nudgee in Brisbane. Her own birth act has never been found — the Forchia births of 1897 are one of two volumes at Benevento that were never digitised.

Not, on this archive's reading, the same family. The Falcone of Capua and Caserta — Agostino, born about 1740, and his descendants through Capua, Galluccio and Frosinone — were once carried at the head of this line. They were removed: Matteo Falco of Arienzo replaces Agostino Falcone, on the evidence of the Arienzo baptisms. FamilySearch's index still treats Falco and Falcone as one name, which is how the confusion began. They are kept here because the tree keeps them, and because a reader looking for Falcone of Caserta should find what this archive holds and what it decided.

A Sicilian branch, and the only one in this archive from outside Campania proper. Giovanni Mazza was born at Piedimonte Etneo, on the eastern slope of Etna, on 28 April 1875 and died there in 1960; his son Sebastian, born 1920 in the same town, died at Brisbane in 2002. The family therefore crossed the same water as the Falco and the Zampiello, from the other end of Italy, and met them here.

From Briatico in Calabria, on the Tyrrhenian coast north of Vibo Valentia. Domenica Prostamo, born March 1928 at Briatico, died at Brisbane in 2010, having married into the Sicilian Mazza. One detail in this branch is worth more work than it has had: her mother Maria Rosa Melluso was born in NEW YORK on 14 October 1907 and died at Briatico in 1994 — an emigration and a return, two generations before the Australian one.
