What the registers say

  • named — living Jun 1823 , Arienzo, strada Sant'Andrea
“«e di MARIA FALCO, domiciliata ivi» — A LIVING MARIA FALCO in 1823, and therefore a third woman of the name. She is not the Maria Falco buried on 24 July 1817 (daughter of Giuseppe Falco and Rosa Sossi, widow of Francesco Quotolo), nor the Maria Falco who was already dead in February 1818 as the mother of Angela Majone. Her own parents are not named here. The declarant is GIUSEPPE FALCO FU MATTEO, who gives himself as a «vicino» and not as kin — so nothing in the act joins her to the line.”

  • named — 24 Oct 1828 , Arienzo, strada Camellara
“«figlia di FRANCESCO COSSI, di professione contadino, e di MARIA FALCO» — and the declarant Giuseppe Falco is «PARENTE DELLA DEFUNTA». After five acts calling him only a neighbour, the register states the kinship. This is the evidence the archive's open question on the third Maria Falco was waiting for.”
