The Falco Archive
Generation 2 of the direct line

Pasquale Falco

Baptised in the Collegiate Church of Sant'Andrea at Arienzo on 24 October 1767 — the record names his father Matteo and his mother Francesca Crisci.

the archive's own line, argued on Direct line from a record this archive has read from the family tree, unverified

One claim here is drawn struck through, and left in place on purpose. The family tree makes this person a parent of generation 2. This archive does not: it identifies generation 1 as Matteo Falco. The reasoning is on the Method page. The archive corrects in the open rather than deleting, so the discarded parentage stays visible beside the one that replaced it.

Two children here carry one name — Vincenzo Falco, Maria Falco. In this parish that is usually not an error: a child who died was very often replaced by a later child given the same name. Luigi Cioffi and Mariantonia Venafra buried a Gaetana in 1839 and another Gaetana, aged four, in 1843. It is also exactly how a records-matcher invents one person out of two, which is why they are kept apart here and the reader is told.

What the registers say

  • death — 1 Oct 1834 , Arienzo, strada Camellara
“è morto nella sua propria casa Pasquale Falco, d'anni settantaquattro, marito di Chiara Rivetti, di professione contadino, nato in Arienzo, figlio di Matteo Falco, defunto, e di Francesca Crisci, defunta”

  • named as living — 23 Aug 1820 , Arienzo, strada Camellara
“On his daughter Anna's death act he is «PASQUALE FALCO, di professione Contadino, domiciliato ivi strada Camellara» — WITHOUT «fu» or «defunto». So he was alive on 23 August 1820, a contadino, living on strada Camellara, fourteen years before his own death act of 1 October 1834. This is an independent civil sighting of the ancestor between his marriage and his death.”

  • named as declarant — 25 Mar 1824 , Arienzo, strada Camellara
“«sono comparsi PASQUALE FALCO, di anni cinquantacinque, di professione COLONO, regnicolo, domiciliato in questo comune, strada Camellara, vicino del defunto, e GIUSEPPE FALCO, di anni quarantadue, di professione colono, domiciliato ivi strada Camellara» — atto 8. THE ONLY RECORD IN WHICH PASQUALE FALCO ACTS FOR HIMSELF. Every other sighting has him named by somebody else: on his children's acts, or on his own death act of 1834. Here he walks into the town hall with his brother Giuseppe and reports a neighbour's child dead. He is fifty-five, which against his baptism of 24 October 1767 is one year out — ordinary. And his trade is given as COLONO, a tenant farmer, where his death act of 1834 calls him contadino.”

Where this comes from

19 of the 26 relationships shown above are written in a record this archive has read. 7 come from the family tree and are unverified.

This page joins two records — one from the registers, one from the family tree — matched on the same generation of the direct line — name and spouse both agree. Their years agree, which is what allowed the join.
