Which Falco?
Arienzo holds at least a dozen Falco households and probably two unrelated Falco stocks. Four generations of this family are day-labourers on one street; another house has a Don for a father, a nun for a daughter and a priest for a son. This page is the answer to the question every record forces: which Falco is this?
What separates people here is never the name. It is the street, the trade, the parish and the spouse — and where a record gives none of those, this archive attaches the person to nobody.
And not the index either. Three separate entries in the Arienzo death indexes looked like three different Falco couples who had married Falco women. All three acts name the same household, and the index had the mother's name wrong every time. How that was caught →
The register holds 1,090 rows under the surname FALCO. Almost none of them belong to this family.
The line
Seven households, one street. Strada Camellara runs through four generations, and it does more identifying work than any name on this page.
MATTEO FALCO × FRANCESCA CRISCI
the founders — Sant'Andrea Apostolo
married by 1766; both alive 4 Aug 1802
Pasquale (b. 1767), Giuseppe, Rosa, Angela, Gioacchino (b. 1779), a first Gioacchino (1774–1777), a daughter (bapt. 5 Jan 1786)
PASQUALE FALCO × CHIARA RIVETTI
strada Camellara
married by 1789; he d. 1 Oct 1834, she d. 13 Sep 1843
nine parish baptisms 1789–1810, plus Anna (1820)
GIUSEPPE FALCO × ANTONIA DI GUIDA
strada Camellara — married 4 Aug 1802
he was still alive in April 1854, aged about seventy-four
seven children 1805–1825, including DON GIOVANNI the deacon and RAFFAELA
GIOACCHINO FALCO × VITTORIA CIMMINO
strada Camellara — married 16 May 1796
he d. 14 Feb 1851, aged seventy-two
Giovanna (bapt. 6 May 1797)
VINCENZO FALCO × ANDREANA CRISCI
strada Camellara — married Dec 1814
he was baptised 1 Feb 1792; she 30 Nov 1796

Vincenza (b. and d. Nov 1847), Carmine Antonio (b. 10 Jul 1850)
FRANCESCO FALCO × RAFFAELA FALCO
strada Camellara — she was Giuseppe's daughter
she d. 20 Apr 1854, aged thirty-four
Antonio (2) d. 1850, Clemente (5) d. 1853, the mother d. 1854, Giovanni (3) d. 1855 — four deaths in one house in five years
Every other Falco this archive has documented
No kinship to the line is claimed for any household below. They are here so that the next record naming a Falco can be checked against them before anybody is attached to anything.
GIUSEPPE FALCO × GELSOMINA VIGLIOTTA
strada COSTA — parish of SANTA MARIA AD NIVES
The other Giuseppe Falco, and the reason the archive nearly attached the wrong man to the founder. Their son Domenico married Mariantonia Frasca on 1 July 1844.
DON FRANCESCO FALCO × DONNA MADDALENA STELLATO
a Don and a Donna — gentry
Their daughter DONNA ANGELA MARIA was a nun (d. 14 Nov 1850); their son DON GIACOMO was a priest (d. 20 Jun 1857). A different social world in the same parish. No kinship claimed or suspected.
CRESCENZO FALCO × MARIA MORGILLO
three children buried 1848–1857
Giuseppe (1) and Gennaro (2 days) died on consecutive days in June 1848; Antonio on 30 October 1857.
MICHELE FALCO × ANTONIA VIGLIOTTA
one of THREE men called Michele Falco
Their daughter Chiara died 6 July 1846, aged seven.
MICHELE FALCO × VINCENZA ESPOSITO
the second Michele
Their daughter Giovanna died 13 May 1832, aged seventy — so this household is eighteenth-century.
MICHELE FALCO × MARIA GIOVANNA D'AMBROSIO
the third Michele
Their daughter Antonia was born 19 November 1850.
DOMENICO FALCO × MARIANTONIA FRASCA
SANTA MARIA A VICO — married 1 July 1844
Domenico is the son of the other Giuseppe Falco and Gelsomina Vigliotta. Their son Angelantonio, ten months old, died on 20 October 1850 at Arienzo in the house of his wet-nurse Grazia Diglio. The 1850 index calls the mother «Falco Mariantonia»; the act says FRASCA.
ANGELO FALCO × ANNAMARIA CIMMINO
Corso Caudino
Their son Vincenzo, a vaticale, died 13 September 1889 aged thirty-nine — not the Vincenzo of this line.
GIOACCHINO / GUGLIELMO FALCO × ANDREANA CRISCI
late nineteenth century
Children born at Arienzo in 1880, 1883 and 1891, and a fourth, Carmela, from the parish register.
SEBASTIANO FALCO × COLOMBA MONTEFUSCO
SAN FELICE A CANCELLO — sapunari, soap-makers
Their son Luigi was baptised 27 February 1797 in the parish of San Felice Martire. A different town and a different trade.
Three parishes, and why that matters
Arienzo is not one parish. This archive was reading it as one until September 2026, and that was a mistake with consequences.
- Sant'Andrea Apostolo — the collegiate church. This family: Matteo, Gioacchino, Pasquale, Vincenzo, Raffaele.
- Sant'Agnese — where Raffaele Falco married Angela Rosa Morgillo on 5 March 1844, because she was the priest's own parishioner: «mea Parochiana».
- Santa Maria ad Nives — the parish of Domenico Falco, son of the other Giuseppe and Gelsomina Vigliotta.
Which parish a household belongs to is evidence, and it is cheap to record and hard to fake. The archive now records it.
How the archive gets this wrong
Every one of these is a real mistake this archive made, caught, and published on the corrections page:
- Reading a Don before a name as decoration rather than as class — and nearly filing a labourer's son who took orders with a gentleman's son who did the same.
- Attaching a Giuseppe Falco to the founder on street and trade alone, before an act proved it. (It did prove it — but it could as easily have gone the other way.)
- Treating a name plus a date as an identification, when this town buries a Gennaro Morgillo in four different years and calls three different men Michele Falco.
- Publishing a find before checking it against what is already held — which is how a «new» Giovanna Falco turned out to be a second daughter given a dead sister's name.
