Alejandro M. LERENA (with Julia BASSANI)

THE ALEJANDRO M. LERENA OF THE ARMY ENROLMENT CARDS, CAJON 985 - and the M. is on the acts, in the clerk's hand, not only in the index. He appeared in person twice: on 6 November 1886, "parecieron don Alejandro M. Lerena, de cuarenta y dos anos de edad, viudo, escribano, oriental, domiciliado en la calle San Jose N 17"; and again in March 1888, "comparecieron don Alejandro M. Lerena de 43 anos de edad de estado viudo de nacionalidad Oriental". TWO AGES SIXTEEN MONTHS APART, CONSISTENT WITH EACH OTHER, PUT HIS BIRTH BETWEEN 17 MARCH AND 6 NOVEMBER 1844. The tree's "born Uruguay 1839" is five years out on both acts and is a tree value, not a record. HE IS A WIDOWER IN 1886 while Julia Bassani is twenty-two and soltera, so there is an earlier marriage and an earlier death in Montevideo - and a marriage act names the groom's parents, which is now the shortest route to his parentage. THE 1888 ACT IS A PRINTED FORM WHOSE RULED LINE READS "Que es nieta por linea paterna de ______" AND THE LINE IS BLANK. So is the maternal one. The form asked this archive's question and nobody wrote the answer on it. NOT MERGED with Alejandro LERENA TRAIBEL (b. 1843 or 1845, son of Avelino) - the ages miss both of that man's candidate dates by one year, in opposite directions, which cannot choose between them. See data/the-three-alejandros.tsv. MAXIMO IS NOW ATTESTED ON A PLATE, 22 September 2026, and not only in the tree. His son Hector's marriage act of 25 February 1911 at San Carlos, Buenos Aires, names him in the priest's hand as "D. ALEJANDRO MAXIMO [Lerena], natural de la Rep. Oriental". So the bare "M." of the two Montevideo birth acts expands to MAXIMO, and the Alejandro M. Lerena of army Cajon 985 has the same expansion. He was still being named as a living father's name in Buenos Aires in 1911. AND HIS FIRST WIFE MAY BE NAMED AT LAST, 27 September 2026. He is viudo on both Montevideo acts of 1886 and 1888, and this archive has been hunting the marriage that made him one. The Iglesia Matriz act of 29 September 1872 names the godparents of a Lerena Traibel child as 'ALEJANDRO M. LERENA y ELISA VILLADEMOROS, a quienes instruyo' - read off the plate. THE M. IS THE TELL: no other Alejandro in this register carries it, and the archive's separate row 'Alejandro LERENA (m. Elisa VILLARDEMOROS)' has a son christened at the Cordon on 29 May 1873. THIS IS NOT YET A MERGE - the two rows still stand, and data/_person-pairs.txt has been rewritten to say why the old reason for keeping them apart was wrong. A man who is a WIDOWER in 1886 and a husband in 1872 is one man with two wives in sequence, which is the ordinary case and is exactly what this archive mistook for two men. ANSWERED, 27 SEPTEMBER 2026, AND IT IS THE QUESTION THIS ARCHIVE HAS CARRIED SINCE 14 SEPTEMBER. data/the-three-alejandros.tsv called his parentage 'NOT KNOWN ... This is the whole obstacle'. HIS PARENTS ARE AVELINO LERENA AND AMBROSIA TRAIBEL. The Cordon act of 26 December 1877, read off film 007713388 image 02455: 'hija legitima de D. ALEJANDRO M. LERENA y de D.a ELISA [VILLADEMOROS] (hoy finada), orientales. ABUELOS PATERNOS D. AVELINO y D.a AMBROSIA TRAIBEL'. SO THE ALEJANDRO M. LERENA OF ARMY DRAWER CAJON 985 IS A LERENA TRAIBEL - a grandson of Sancho Llerena, and a brother of Josefa, Alberto, Alfredo Justiniano, Ana Rosario and the rest. AND THE WIDOWHOOD IS DATED. Elisa is 'HOY FINADA' on 26 December 1877 and her daughter was born 19 September 1876, so she died inside those fifteen months - which is why he is 'viudo' on both Montevideo acts of 1886 and 1888. WHAT REMAINS IS ONE ROW, NOT ONE QUESTION: this register also holds ALEJANDRO LERENA TRAIBEL, baptised at La Mauricia on 7 January 1846, a son of the same couple with the same forename, whose birth the act puts at 29 May 1843 or 1845 against the 1844 these acts give. Same parents, same name, compatible dates. They are almost certainly one man and are not yet merged; see data/_person-pairs.txt. AND HIS MARRIAGE TO ELISA IS A CONTROLLED NULL, 27 September 2026. Searched under LERENA and under SERENA - the spelling that hid the 1877 act - for a marriage to a Villademoros in Uruguay: nothing. THE CONTROL PASSED IN THE SAME MINUTES: the Montevideo parish marriage of Luis Lerena and Julia Juanico, 19 December 1864 at San Francisco de Asis, returns with the groom's parents attached - so marriages of that era and city ARE indexed, and they DO carry the parents. THE NULL THEREFORE MEANS THE ACT IS NOT IN THE INDEXED CORPUS, NOT THAT IT DOES NOT EXIST. Their eldest known child was born 29 October 1872, so the marriage falls about 1868-1872, most likely at the Cordon. It would name his parents a second time and give his AGE, which is the one thing that would separate the 1843 reading from the 1845. AND A THIRD RECORD PAIRS HIM WITH ELISA VILLADEMOROS, this time in ARGENTINA. His son Alejandro Joaquin married at Bell Ville, Cordoba, in 1907, and the act names the groom's parents as 'ALEJANDRO M LERENA' and 'ELISA VILLADEMORAS'. The Montevideo font of 1872, the Cordon christening of 1877 and now a Cordoba marriage of 1907 all carry the same couple and the same initial. AND HE WAS DEAD BY 20 JUNE 1907, WHICH IS THE FIRST EVIDENCE OF HIS DEATH FROM ANY RECORD. His son Alejandro Joaquin's marriage at San Jeronimo, Cordoba, names the groom 'hijo legitimo de ALEJANDRO M. [LERENA] y ELISA VILLADEMORAS (FINADOS)' - both parents deceased, on the plate. SO HIS DEATH FALLS BETWEEN MARCH 1888, when he appeared in person at Montevideo to register Emilia Alberta, AND JUNE 1907. The family tree's '1903' sits inside that bracket and now has a record-based ceiling for the first time, though the tree's date itself is still only a tree's. AND THE ACT IS A FOURTH INDEPENDENT STATEMENT OF HIS NAME WITH THE M. - Montevideo 1872, the Cordon 1877, Buenos Aires 1911, and now Cordoba 1907.
