Maria Adelina LERENA Traibel (de FEIN)

THE NINTH CHILD OF AVELINO AND AMBROSIA, found 21 September 2026. Her Montevideo death registration of 20 November 1946, certificate 48, names her father AVELINO LERENA and her mother AMBROSIA TRAIBEL, her husband CARLOS ALBERTO FEIN and a son JORGE FEIN. THE BIRTH YEAR IN THIS COLUMN IS NOT A FINDING. The registration gives her birth as 1861 and her birthplace as Montevideo; the family chart gives 1865-1946. THE 1861 CANNOT EASILY BE RIGHT, and what rules it out is her own brother. Juan Arturo was born 16 February 1861 on his baptismal act, so a sister born in 1861 would have to have been born in the last six weeks of it. The year on a death registration is age-derived and is the weaker of the two, so c.1865 is entered and flagged. WHAT WOULD SETTLE IT: her own baptism, which has not been looked for. THE BIRTH YEAR IS NO LONGER A GUESS, 21 September 2026: SHE WAS BORN 13 AUGUST 1865. Her own baptismal act was found on the second opening of the same certificate book and read: 'En treinta y uno de Diciembre de mil ochocientos sesenta y cinco. El Canonigo Dn. Juan Jose Brid, bautizo solemnemente a MARIA ADELINA, NACIDA EL TRECE DE AGOSTO ULTIMO, hija legitima de Dn. Avelino Lerena y de Da. Ambrosia Traibel, Orientales. Padrinos Dn. AMBROSIO LERENA y Da. CARLOTA MUNOZ.' So the 1861 on her death registration is wrong by four years, and the reasoning that flagged it was right for the right reason - her brother Juan Arturo was born in February 1861 and no sister could be. AND A SECOND RECORD OF HER IS THE SAME ACT. FamilySearch also indexes a 'MARTA ADELINA, born 13 August 1918, christened Montevideo 9 May 1919', with godparents Ambrosio Lorena and Carlota Munoz - the same two names and the same 13 August. It is this baptism certified a second time, on a different film, and dated by the index to that certificate. One act, two films, and two index entries fifty-three years apart.
