Alfredo Justiniano LERENA Traibel

A SON OF AVELINO LERENA AND AMBROSIA TRAIBEL, and a brother of Josefa - found 14 September 2026. Married HERMENEGILDA CAROLINA GAVARRO at the Catedral Basilica de Montevideo on 3 February 1892, aged thirty-five. THE MARRIAGE NEEDED A DISPENSATION FOR CONSANGUINITY - third degree with atingencia to the second - granted personally by MARIANO SOLER, the first Archbishop of Montevideo. He is written GERENA in his own marriage act while his father is written LORENA in the same sentence: a seventh spelling for this family. HIS BAPTISM IS FOUND: 12 March 1858, San Francisco de Asis, with his sister Ana Rosario. It gives his full name ALFREDO JUSTINIANO and his grandparents Sancho Lerena and Maria Fernandez. AND IT RESOLVES A PUZZLE: the JUSTINIANO looked like an echo of Justiniana Lenguas, who married into the other branch - a tidy connection that would have been wrong. He is named for his GODFATHER, JUSTINIANO LAVALLEJA, on the same line of the same act. This row used to end: "His baptismal age of 1858 sits oddly against the 35 he gave at his 1892 marriage, which would imply 1857; ages at marriage are the weakest date in genealogy." THE ODDNESS WAS THIS ARCHIVE'S, NOT THE RECORD'S - 20 September 2026. He was not born in 1858. The act read here on 14 September says so outright, and the sentence was never lifted off the page: "que nacio el dia DOS de OCTUBRE ... cincuenta y seis" - born 2 OCTOBER 1856, and baptised at seventeen months. AND THAT MAKES THE MARRIAGE AGE EXACT. On 3 February 1892 a man born 2 October 1856 is thirty-five, which is precisely what he told the priest. The record and the age never disagreed; this register had written the baptism date into the birth column and then blamed the discrepancy on the record. Re-read off the image 20 September: film 007713686 image 2847, which also confirms the paternal grandparents "Don Sancho Lerena y Dona Maria Fernandez", the maternal "Don Juan Traibel y Dona Ysabel Centeno", and the godparents Justiniano Lavalleja and Dona Polonia Traibel. HIS WIFE'S SURNAME WAS WRONG HERE FOR A WEEK, AND IS CORRECTED OFF THE IMAGE: SHE IS A GAVAZZO, NOT A GAVARRO, and her mother a SUAREZ, not a Juarez. The 1892 act was held from a machine full-text transcript; the image was opened on 21 September 2026 and reads 'hija legitima de Don GERONIMO GAVAZZO y Dona CAROLINA SUAREZ'. The same image confirms what this row already said - 'Don ALFREDO LERENA, soltero, de TREINTA Y CINCO anos de edad'. AND THE END OF HIS LIFE HAS A CEILING AT LAST. Hermenegilda died at Montevideo on 20 June 1940 'de estado VIUDA', so he died between February 1892 and June 1940, aged somewhere between thirty-five and eighty-three. No death record for him has been found.
