Andrej Sedej

Named as parent, 1873, Nova Oselica, Poljane valley — FATHER of Ursula Sedej - a GRUNTAR at Nova Oselica, and a generation nobody had reached.

The family tree has never heard of this person. Every other person page in this archive is a record the MyHeritage export holds. This one is not: it exists because the register was read at the page, and it is kept beside the tree rather than put into it. The tree is an export and this archive does not edit it. Citation
Poročna knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1856-1881 book p.54 - at his daughter’s second marriage on 28 May 1873 the bride’s parents are entered "ANDREJ SEDEJ, GRUNTAR NA NOVI OSLICI" and "JERA ROJE". A GRUNTAR is a full peasant farmer, a rung above the kajžar his daughter married. NOVA OSELICA is in the Poljane valley south-west of Škofja Loka, some twenty-five kilometres from Zgornje Bitnje AND IN ANOTHER PARISH - which is why Ursula’s first marriage is not in the Kranj-Šmartin book, and where her baptism of about 1826-27 should be. NOVA OSELICA HAS NOW BEEN OPENED, 28 September 2026, and SEDEJ IS A REAL, RESIDENT FAMILY THERE - walking the baptismal register (sig. 01584, 1826-1862) and the marriage register (sig. 01590, 1826-1908) turned up GERTRAUD SEDEJ and CATHARINA SEDEJ as mothers of brides marrying in January 1827, AGNES SEDEJ standing godmother in the same years, and an ANDRE SEDEJ, "½ Hüblor", fathering a child with MARIA BRIZ about 1829-30 (sig. 01584 image 14). NONE OF THESE IS PROVED TO BE THIS ANDREJ. The 1873 marriage names his wife JERA ROJE, not Maria Briz - so either this is a different Andre Sedej of the same generation, or Maria Briz was an earlier wife who died before Ursula was born (the pattern this archive has now met twice, at Johann Kozina’s own house). THE BAPTISMAL WALK COVERED SIG. 01584 IMAGES 3-25 (1826 to about 1832) AND DID NOT FIND URSULA’S OWN ENTRY, nor an Andrej Sedej x Jera Roje pairing as parents. The marriage register 01589 (1785-1826) was checked at its final pages (images 38-44, 1824 to January 1826) and 01590 from its start (images 1-8, 1826-1828): no Andrej Sedej x Jera Roje marriage in either window. EITHER THEIR MARRIAGE OR URSULA’S BAPTISM IS ELSEWHERE IN THESE 99 AND 87 IMAGES, most of which have not been read, or their marriage is in the earlier volume 01588 (1763-1784) or 01583 (1785-1826, the baptismal volume before 01584). NOT PROVED, AND NOT FALSE - the parish is confirmed open and free, and the next session can pick up exactly where this one stopped. Matricula, NSAL sig. 03918 image 55, sig. 01584 images 3-25, sig. 01589 images 38-44, sig. 01590 images 1-8
