Read out of a register, and not in the family tree
Jera Roje
Named as parent, 1873, Nova Oselica, Poljane valley — MOTHER of Ursula Sedej - named once, at her daughter’s second wedding.
The family tree has never heard of this person. Every other
person page in this archive is a record the MyHeritage export holds. This one is not: it exists
because the register was read at the page, and it is kept beside the tree rather than
put into it. The tree is an export and this archive does not edit it.

What the register says
- Event
- named as parent
- Date
- 1873
- Place
- Nova Oselica, Poljane valley
- Citation
- Poročna knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1856-1881 book p.54 - "Roditelja nevestina: Andrej Sedej, gruntar na novi Oslici, in JERA ROJE". JERA is the Slovene short form of GERTRUDA, the same name Martin Kozina’s mother carried at Zgornje Bitno 9 - a coincidence of given names in one parish and nothing more. NOVA OSELICA WAS OPENED FOR HER ON 28 September 2026 and did not give her up. The baptismal register (sig. 01584) and the start of the marriage register (sig. 01590) were walked for 1826-1832 and 1826-1828 and neither carries a Jera Roje beside an Andrej Sedej. AN ANDRE SEDEJ DOES APPEAR, married to MARIA BRIZ, fathering a child about 1829-30 - not proved to be the same man, and if it is, Jera Roje is a second wife the walk has not yet reached. SHE STILL EXISTS IN THIS ARCHIVE IN SIX WORDS. The volumes that would settle it - 01584 beyond image 25, 01589 before image 38, 01590 beyond image 8, and the two volumes before them both - are open, free, and not yet read past the pages named here. AND THE SURNAME ITSELF IS NOW INDEPENDENTLY CONFIRMED, separately from her husband’s family. Krstna knjiga Nova Oselica 1826-1862 (sig. 01584), image 36, gives an entry naming the mother "AGNES ROJ[S]KA" - the adjectival feminine form Slovene registers give a woman surnamed ROJE, exactly as this clerk’s contemporaries write "Kajzarska" for a woman of the Kajzar house. SO ROJE, LIKE SEDEJ, IS A REAL SURNAME IN THIS SAME PARISH AND NOT A MISREADING. Not the same woman as Jera - this Agnes bore a child outside marriage, later legitimised, a different case entirely - but it means the 1873 marriage record’s "Jera Roje" is not an isolated, unverifiable name: both halves of it belong to Nova Oselica.
