Read out of a register, and not in the family tree
Johann Kosina
Marriage, 6 January 1833, Zgornje Bitnje (Oberfeichting) 9, župnija Kranj-Šmartin — BROTHER OF GERTRAUD, Haeusler at Oberfeichting No. 9.
The family tree has never heard of this person. Every other
person page in this archive is a record the MyHeritage export holds. This one is not: it exists
because the register was read at the page, and it is kept beside the tree rather than
put into it. The tree is an export and this archive does not edit it.

- Poročna knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1816-1855, book p.35 - "1833, 6. Jaenner, Obern feichting 9, JOHANN KOSINAR, Haeusler, katholisch, 30 Jahre, ledig" marrying "LUZIA LABORNIK, 38, ledig". HIS PARENTS: "Franz Kosinar, Haeusler" and "Mina Tom[sh]shan, Haeuslerin". Born about 1802-03. THE BRIDE IS THE PROOF: Johann Kosina, Haeusler of Oberfeichting 9, had his first child with Lucia Labornik on 20 January 1834, a year and a fortnight later - so the house, the trade, the wife and the date all agree and the identification does not rest on the surname at all. Children ANTON 1834 and PETRUS 1836 at Oberfeichting 9 by Lucia Labornik; then, by a second wife URSULA SEDEJ, three daughters whose days are now all read: FRANZISKA baptised 19 September 1853, ANNA born and baptised 25 July 1856, MARIA born and baptised 7 August 1859 - six children over twenty-five years in one house, and he was about sixty-one at the last of them. CORRECTED 27 September 2026: this row said FRANZ 1853. The register says FRANCISCA and ticks Maedchen. And MARIA 1859 is new - the K section of the baptismal index was read end to end that day and it holds SIX Kozina, not five. HIS DEATH, found 27 September 2026 at the end of the walk that the index had made necessary: Mrliska knjiga Kranj-Smartin 1836-1869 book p.167 - "1868, October · 10. gestorben, 12. begraben · ZGORNJE BITNO · 9 · JOHANN KOZINA, Haubler · katholisch · maennlich · ALTER 64 Jahre · Auszehrung". DIED 10 OCTOBER 1868, BURIED 12 OCTOBER, AGED 64, AT ZGORNJE BITNO 9 - the Slovene name for Oberfeichting, and the same house. Age 64 puts his birth at about 1804 against the 30 he gave at his marriage in January 1833, which gives 1802-03: a two-year spread, which is what register ages do. He is a HAUBLER to the end, the word he carried at his wedding thirty-five years earlier. THE INDEX FOR 1836-1869 DOES NOT LIST HIM, and he is the seventh of the nine Kozina in that register that it missed. HE IS NAMED ONE LAST TIME, FIFTEEN YEARS AFTER HE DIED: at his daughter Maria’s marriage of 1883 (sig. 03919 book p.14) the bride’s parents are entered "JANEZ KOZINA, GRUNTAR, in URŠA SEDEJ" - the Slovene forms of his name and his second wife’s, and the record that joins the "unplaced" Marija Kozina of Stražišče to this household. THE WORD GRUNTAR DOES NOT FIT HIM and is recorded as read: he is a Häubler at his wedding in 1833, a Hüblar at every baptism, and a Häubler at his death in 1868. HIS SECOND MARRIAGE IS NOT IN THIS PARISH, and that was read rather than assumed. Lucia Labornik died 30 November 1850; Franziska was baptised 19 September 1853 and entered EHELICH, so the marriage to Ursula Sedej falls between those dates. Poročna knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1816-1855 was walked for it on 28 September 2026 - book pages 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 and 71, which run from APRIL 1850 to FEBRUARY 1853 without a gap. THERE IS NO KOZINA MARRIAGE ON ANY OF THEM. AND THE LIKELIEST REASON IS THE ORDINARY RULE: a marriage is celebrated in the BRIDE’S parish. Johann’s first marriage is in this book because LUCIA LABORNIK was local. If URSULA SEDEJ was not, the entry - and both sets of parents with it - is in her parish’s book and not in this one. SO URSULA SEDEJ CAME FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, on the evidence of where her marriage is not. HIS TWO SONS’ BAPTISMS, OPENED IN FULL 28 September 2026, and they gave a household the archive had not seen. ANTON: "20. Jänner [1834] · Oberfeichting · 9 · ANTON · katholisch · Knaben · ehelich · Vater: JOHANN KOSINA, Häubler · Mutter: LUCIA · Paten: STEPHAN SH[E]SNAR, Hüblar, and MARIA DOLLENZ". PETRUS: "29. Juni [1836] · Oberfeichting · 9 · PETRUS · katholisch · Knaben · ehelich · Vater: [Johann] KOSINA · Mutter: LUCIA LABORNIK, written in full · Pate: JAKOB DOLENZ, signing with a cross". THE MOTHER’S SURNAME AT PETRUS’S BAPTISM IS THE CONFIRMATION - until now Lucia Labornik was known from her marriage and her death, and the two boys were hers only by inference from the house. AND THE GODPARENTS ARE A FINDING OF THEIR OWN. A DOLENC STANDS AT FOUR BAPTISMS OF THIS HOUSEHOLD ACROSS FORTY-ONE YEARS: JAKOB DOLLENZ in 1812 at Elisabeth’s, MARIA DOLLENZ in 1834 at Anton’s, JAKOB DOLENZ in 1836 at Petrus’s, and MARINA DOLENC in 1853 at Francisca’s. Jakob appears in 1812 and again in 1836, twenty-four years apart - one man, or a father and a son. KUMSTVO IS NOT A COURTESY in this culture; it is a standing bond between two households, and this is the only one this archive has documented for the Kosinar. IT ALSO GIVES A SURNAME TO SEARCH: a Dolenc marriage at Kranj-Šmartin would say how close the two families were.
