Marriage, 27 October 1800, Feichting bei St. Johann, župnija Kranj-Šmartin — GRANDMOTHER OF MARTIN KOZINA - wife of Franz Kosinar.

The family tree has never heard of this person. Every other person page in this archive is a record the MyHeritage export holds. This one is not: it exists because the register was read at the page, and it is kept beside the tree rather than put into it. The tree is an export and this archive does not edit it. Poročna knjiga 1780-1815 - "MARIA DORTSHEN, katholisch, 20, ledig", marrying Franz Kosinar on 27 October 1800, SO BORN ABOUT 1780. THE SURNAME, from six clerks across thirty-three years: "Dortshen" 1800 · "Dortschen" at Elisabeth's baptism 1812 · "Do[m]shan" at Gertraud's 1814 · "Dortschen" at Maria's 1815 · "Dortschen" at Valentin's 1820 · "Tom[sh]shan" at Johann's marriage 1833. FOUR OF THE SIX READ DORTSCHEN and the archive now leads with it; the other two are this archive's own bracketed readings and are kept as read. MINA is the short form these registers use for Marija, and one clerk writes MARINA. SIX OF HER CHILDREN ARE NOW KNOWN BY NAME: Johann about 1802, Elisabeth 1812, Gertraud 1814, Maria 1815, MARIA 1818 and Valentin 1820 - and THREE OF THE SIX died before they were a year old. THE SECOND MARIA, read 22 September 2026, is named for the sister who had died in March 1816, which is ordinary practice and is why this archive counted five for part of one evening and then six. Two index entries were long unaccounted for - Kosina Dorothea p.8 (1813) and Kosina Marianna p.16 (1813). CORRECTED 27 September 2026: this row said BOTH PAGES WERE OPENED and the whole father column of each read at 2.4x, and that THERE IS NO KOSINA ON EITHER. THAT WAS WRONG FOR PAGE 16. Re-read at nine times magnification, the entry of 12 August 1813 at house 27 gives MARIANNA, father LUKAS KOSINER, Kaischler - and she is almost certainly the Marianna Kosina who died at Breg 12 in 1840 aged 26. Two and a half times was not enough for that hand. CORRECTED AGAIN THE SAME DAY, AND FOR THE SAME REASON. For an hour this row also said PAGE 8 STILL HAS NO KOSINA, on the strength of a 3.2x pass that found two Dorotheas - house 28 to Primus Wit[nitz] and house 18 to Johann Holz. THERE ARE THREE DOROTHEAS ON PAGE 8. The third is "6. [Hornung 1813] · 12 · DOROTHEA · ehelich · Vater: ANTON KOSINER RECTE KATZIN, Inwohner · Mutter: MARGARETH ZUBERTH". The whole father column has now been read at 8x and she is the only Kosiner on it. BOTH INDEX ENTRIES ARE THEREFORE ACCOUNTED FOR - and NEITHER CHILD IS HERS: Marianna is Lukas Kosina’s, and Dorothea is Anton’s. AND ANTON’S ENTRY CARRIES A WARNING FOR THIS WHOLE FILE: RECTE marks the legal surname against the name in daily use, so the family name is KATZIN and KOSINER is what they were called - most likely after the house. A Kosina in this index is not always a Kosina in the family. SHE WAS ALIVE IN FEBRUARY 1820, at about forty, because Valentin was baptised then and entered ehelich. HER DEATH IS STILL NOT FOUND, and the search is now exhaustive for this parish: the K section of the death index for 1812-1835 (sig. 04634, images 125-126) was read end to end on 22 September 2026 and holds SIX Kozina - Elisabeth 1813 p.6, TWO Maria 1816 both p.34, Matthäus 1819 p.64, Valentin 1820 p.72, Margareth 1826 p.132 - and the two 1816 Marias are a woman of 78 and a baby of nine months, NEITHER of them her. The index for 1836-1869 (sig. 04635) holds only Franz 1849 and Luzia 1850. HER DEATH, FOUND 27 SEPTEMBER 2026 by walking the 1836-1869 register itself rather than trusting its index: Mrliska knjiga Kranj-Smartin 1836-1869 book p.27 - "1841, April · am 11. gestorben, am 13. begraben · OBERFEICHTING [ditto] · 9 · MARIA KOSINA, AUSZUGLERIN · katholisch · weiblich · ALTER 60 Jahre · Convulsionen · versehen". DIED 11 APRIL 1841, BURIED 13 APRIL, AGED 60, AT OBERFEICHTING 9. Born about 1781, which is the 20 she gave at her marriage in October 1800. AUSZUGLERIN is the female of AUSNEHMER - a householder who has handed over and lives on the Ausnahm - and it is the exact word this same register uses for FRANZ at his own death in THE SAME HOUSE eight years later (p.61, 22 January 1849, aged 73). SHE DIED IN THE HOUSE SHE HAD HANDED OVER. AND THE DATE IS THE ONE THAT MATTERS: her grandson MARTIN WAS BORN IN THAT HOUSE ON 16 NOVEMBER 1841, SEVEN MONTHS AFTER SHE DIED IN IT. THE INDEX FOR 1836-1869 DOES NOT LIST HER, and that is now the fourth positive proof that it is incomplete - it holds Franz 1849 and Luzia 1850 and nobody else, while the register itself yields Marianna 1840, MARIA 1841, Joseph 1843 and Ursula 1845/46 in the first 105 pages alone. An index proves what it contains and never what it omits. Matricula, NSAL sig. 00901 image 33, sig. 00885 images 4, 15, 23 and 55, sig. 00899 image 37
