BAPTISM, FOUND 27 September 2026: Krstna knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1812-1831 book p.16 - "12. [August 1813] · Haus 27 · MARIANNA · katholisch · weiblich · ehelich · Vater: LUKAS KOSINER, Kaischler · Mutter: LUZIA O[K]LIN[T]SH". THE MATCH IS THREE THINGS AT ONCE. The age: baptised 12 August 1813, she was 26 years and five months on 10 January 1840, and the clerk wrote 26. The trade: she dies a KEUSCHLERSTOCHTER and her father is entered a KAISCHLER, which is the same word. And the index: the 1812-1831 baptismal index lists "Kosina Marianna - 16" under 1813, and this entry is on book page 16. NOT PROVED - the 1813 entry gives a house number and no village, so it cannot be tied to Breg, and no register yet read joins the two records directly. But it is no longer a guess. SHE IS LUKAS KOSINA’S DAUGHTER, and so a sister of the GERTRAUD he had in 1818 - the Gertraud this archive had to rule out before it could say Martin’s mother was the Gertraud of 1814. THE CORRECTION THIS COST: this archive published that page 16 had been opened and its whole father column read at 2.4x, and that THERE IS NO KOSINA ON IT. There is. Two and a half times magnification was not enough for this hand; at nine times the name is plain. Breg is a fourth Kosina settlement in the parish after Franz’s Oberfeichting 9, Matthäus’s 14 and Ursula’s 13, and she is still born the same year as Gertraud Kozina of Feichting, who lived to 1880 - a reminder that a name and a year together prove nothing.
