The family tree has never heard of this person. Every other person page in this archive is a record the MyHeritage export holds. This one is not: it exists because the register was read at the page, and it is kept beside the tree rather than put into it. The tree is an export and this archive does not edit it. THE MARRIAGE, FOUND 27 September 2026 by walking the register this row had named as the document that would settle it: Poročna knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1881-1899, sig. 03919, book p.14 - "Ženin: STRAŽIŠE 120 · KANCIJAN ČESEN, kajžarski sin · katoliške · 32 · svoboden. NEVESTA: KOLODVOR V PODNARTU 12, ROJENA V ZGORNJEM BITNJU št. 9 · MINA KOZINA, gruntarska hči · katoliške · 23 · svobodna. Roditelja ženinova: MATEVŽ ČESEN, kajžar, in URŠA PETERNEL. RODITELJA NEVESTINA: JANEZ KOZINA, GRUNTAR, IN URŠA SEDEJ. Priči: Franc Sušnik, hišar, in Jošt Trebar, gostač, both signing with a cross. Poročil Gregor Slibar". TWO THINGS IN THAT ENTRY CLOSE THIS ROW. First, ROJENA V ZGORNJEM BITNJU ŠT. 9 - born at Zgornje Bitnje number 9, which is Franz Kosinar’s house, the house Martin was born in and Johann died in. Second, JANEZ KOZINA and URŠA SEDEJ are the Slovene forms of JOHANN KOZINA and URSULA SEDEJ. SHE IS THEIR YOUNGEST DAUGHTER, baptised 7 August 1859 at that house - and she was 23 at her marriage, which is exact. WHAT THIS ROW USED TO SAY: "the only Kozina woman in the parish in the 1890s, UNPLACED · NOTHING JOINS HER TO THIS FAMILY except the surname and the parish". It named the document that would settle it and said NOT YET OPENED. It has been opened, and it settles it. THE DATE IS A PROBLEM AND IS RECORDED AS ONE. The date cell reads "2. junija" - 2 June 1883 - but the entry’s own Dokaznice are dated 17 June (the Stražišče notice, št. 11), 21 JUNE (the imperial-royal court at Kranj declaring the UNDER-AGE BRIDE of full age, št. 3708) and 1 JULY (the banns from the parish of Dobrava). A marriage cannot precede its own banns by a month, and the row beneath it has the same cell and the same problem, so the month is a slip and the marriage is 2 JULY 1883. Recorded as read, with the conflict stated. AND ONE WORD DOES NOT FIT. She is "gruntarska hči" and her father "gruntar" - a farmer and a farmer’s daughter. Every other record of Johann Kozina calls him Häubler or kajžar, a cottager, including his own death in 1868. Either the household had risen, or the clerk wrote the higher word at a wedding; the birth house and both parents’ names are not in doubt. SHE WAS LIVING AT THE RAILWAY STATION AT PODNART, twenty kilometres from the house she was born in. HER CHILDREN: Mrliška knjiga 1890-1911 gives two of them dying at STRAŽIŠČE 84 - Kancijan, 1892, aged 1 3/4 months, and Pavla, 1893, aged 2 - both "zakonski otrok hišarja-dninarja Kancijana Česen in Marije roj. Kozina". AND THE SAME WALK DATES HER DEATH, WITHOUT FINDING IT. Eleven openings further on, at book p.55: "1896, 10. februarja · STRAŽIŠČE 84 · KANCIJAN ČESEN, hišar, VDOVEC, roj. 1. avgusta 1851, 44 let" marrying "FRANCIŠKA TOMAŽEVIČ, Stražišče 96, kajž. hči, roj. 26. marca 1849, 46 let". HE IS A WIDOWER AT THE HOUSE HER CHILDREN DIED IN. So MARIJA KOZINA DIED BETWEEN 1893, when her daughter Pavla died, and 10 FEBRUARY 1896 - aged between 33 and 36, leaving a husband who remarried within three years. HER DEATH, FOUND 27 September 2026, and the hypothesis that found it was right. Mrliška knjiga Kranj-Šmartin 1890-1911 book p.45, entry 33 - "1895, April · 2. umrla, 3. pokopana · STRAŽIŠČE · 84 · MARIJA ČESEN, hišarja in sitarja žena · katoliške · ženskega · STAROST 35 LET · OTROŠKA MRZLICA · previdena · Alojzij Železny, kapelan". DIED 2 APRIL 1895, BURIED 3 APRIL, AGED 35, AT STRAŽIŠČE 84 - the house her children died in. Baptised 7 August 1859, she was 35 years and 8 months. THE AGE IS EXACT. AND SHE IS ENTERED MARIJA ČESEN, UNDER HER HUSBAND’S SURNAME, WITH NO MAIDEN NAME AT ALL. This archive walked that register opening by opening looking for KOZINA and could not have found her. The register is inconsistent about it - on the same openings "Marija roj. Eržen" and "Neža roj. Mravlje" keep their maiden names - so this was not a rule to be known in advance, and the walk was right while the query was wrong. OTROŠKA MRZLICA is childbed fever. For a married woman of thirty-five, among entries where the clerk gives grown people grown diseases, it is not a children’s fever; SHE DIED IN OR JUST AFTER CHILDBIRTH, and a baptism of early 1895 at Stražišče 84 has not been looked for. AND SHE WAS THE FOURTH DEATH IN THAT HOUSE IN THREE YEARS. Kancijan, 1892, at one and three quarter months. Pavla, 1893, at two. ANTONIJA ČESEN, "hišarja hči", 26 FEBRUARY 1895, AGED 1 1/2, of božjast and without the sacraments - born about August 1893, the year Pavla died, and dead FIVE WEEKS BEFORE HER MOTHER. Then Marija herself. Her husband Kancijan Česen remarried on 10 February 1896, ten months later.
