Witnesses Rumenović Jure i Ruce, matičar Sertić Šimun. NOT IN THE TREE. CORRECTED ON RE-READING AT FULL ZOOM, 5 October 2026: the mother's surname was first read as Vukelić and is in fact VUČETIĆ - the same surname as Marija Vučetić, wife of the Niko Kalanj already on record at this same house 231. NOT MERGED, but the link is now a real one: a Kalanj father named Jure (a variant of Juro, the name of Niko's own father) and a Vučetić mother at the very house where Niko Kalanj and Marija Vučetić raised Anica (1893) and Niko (1896). Whether Jure is the same man as Niko under a different given name, a brother who married a Vučetić woman too, or the same Marija Vučetić under a variant given name (Manole) is not established. See also Franc Kalanj, born 28 January 1899 at the same house (this file), whose parents are entered as Kalanj Mile and Vučetić Marija - two Kalanj births at house 231 within four weeks cannot be one child. SURNAME QUESTION SETTLED 5 OCTOBER 2026: the 'Kalauj' near-miss this register's earlier reading kept separate is the same word as Kalanj; the 1891 entry for Marija/Marisa (image 157, this file) names these same parents, Jure Kalanj and Vučetić Manole, at this same house 231. This row is Kalanj without caveat.
