How this person is attached

Connected to this family only through a sorting label

Every route from Hedviga to this person passes through a sorting label — a working note sitting where an ancestor should be. This is not a claim that the person is invented; the register entries behind them are real. It is a statement about the join. Why this matters →

Attachment to this family

The tree saysWife of Michael Žubrinić; mother of six children, 1822 to 1844
The record saysBorn 14 March 1793, died 1831 — the last three children arrive after her death

Her first three — Franciscus 1822, Michael 1825, Josephus 1828 — sit exactly where a woman born in 1793 should have them. Stephanus 1833, Josephus 1836 and Theresia 1844 are all after she is buried, and the second Josephus repeats a name already in use, which a household does not do while the first is alive. Michael remarried and the second wife's children have been put on the first. Which Michael is a separate question and a harder one: the house numbers say he is at least seven men. Read it →

Family

a direct ancestor a record has been read for them an image, not yet read from the family tree, unverified

The mark describes the person, not the link. Of the 7 relatives drawn here, 0 have a document of their own in this archive — but that is not the same as a document tying them to this person. This archive holds no separate proof for most parent–child links; where it does, the note above this chart says so in words.

Two children here carry one name — Josephus Žubrinić Xubrinich. In these parishes that is usually not an error: a child who died was very often replaced by a later child given the same name, and nine such deaths are implied across these four families by a name used twice. It is also exactly how a records-matcher makes one person out of two, which is why they are kept apart here and the reader is told.

Where this sits in the family

Not on the direct line. They are published because they belong to one of the eight surnames this archive follows.

The register spells this surname more than one way, and the search folds the forms together — so Xubrinich and Žubrinić, Joannis and Ivan, find each other.

None. This person carries no source string at all in the tree. They may still be right — but nothing here can be checked without going to the register. Method →

An online family tree is a witness, not a source. Where a citation points at a parish register or a FamilySearch image, that is the thing worth going to. Sources →

Others of the same name

These parishes repeat their names relentlessly — 94 Marijas and 88 Ivans in this archive alone. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Merging on a name is exactly how this tree came to hold a man born after his own granddaughter.
