The Defranceschi Archive
A maternal line — Uršula Kovačina

Kovačina

Generation five — she married Anton Rudolf Defranceski (1890–1943), born at Klenovica house 22. Born about 1890. What this archive can prove about her family, and what it would take to prove more.

Five women married into this line and carried it forward, and for years the front page said the same thing under each of them: «no archive of her own line yet». David asked on 29 September 2026 for that to stop being true. These are the pages; the research behind them is mostly still to do, and each page says exactly how much.

What is documented, and it is all German paper

She is on the Pfullingen list of foreigners in 1947, and certified by that town's mayor in 1950. (doc.) Every document this archive holds for her was made in Germany after the war — not one was made where she was born.

⚠ «About 1890» is not a birth date

The pedigree's wall note is blunt: «Her parents are not in this archive. Her own birth record has not been found — «about 1890» is all the certificates give.» She is the only one of the five maternal lines whose birth year is an estimate, and the estimate comes from German certificates written fifty years after the event. ⚠ Her birthplace is not established either. (open.)

What would move it

The 1948 window is already an open Arolsen question, and her papers sit inside it — the CM/1 file for the Pfullingen household is reference 3.2.1.1, 32110000 058.158, «Personal file of DEFRANCESKI, PETAR… and of further persons», and «further persons» is where a wife's own birthplace is usually written down. That file has not been read. ⚠ And she died at Belgrade in 1975 — the same city where her daughter Anka Nera died in 1944, thirty-one years apart, and this archive still cannot say why either of them was there.

The other maternal lines

The pedigree walls in this archive's own ancestors data, the Pfullingen and Arolsen material, and the Gračišće register programme. Written 29 September 2026 at David's request.
