the direct line, argued on the line

This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

What the archive knows

Born 3 February 1855, baptised the 5th — where the pedigree had «about 1853» — and the margin gives his death. Gologorica baptisms, folio 116 (M01069130), house 6: «Antonius natus 3ᵃ hujus», of «Antonius Defranceschi» and «Francisca nata Defranceschi»; godparents «Joannes Udovich et Sancta Sestan» — his aunt by marriage, the Defranceschi daughter of house 2, here under her married name. And beneath the entry, in a later hand, «† 17.II.1913». (doc — DAPA ZM34K-214.)* The pid keeps the year it was minted with. `antonius-defranceschi-1853` will read 1853 for ever, because a moved id is a dead URL; the row carries the register's date. ⚠ AND THIS ARCHIVE MAY HOLD HIM TWICE. A second row, `antonius-defranceschi-1855` (born 1855, died 1918, line «unknown», no place, off MyHeritage), now matches him on the birth year and contradicts him on the death: 1918 against the register's 1913. They are not merged. A five-year gap in a death year is the serious kind and means one side may be describing a different man. The worklist holds it; the burial register settles it.
