The family

No family chart is drawn for this person, and that is a statement about the data rather than about them. This archive records kin against a name — the tree on a name page gathers everyone who shares it, so it may hold one person's dates beside another's wife. Rather than hand a reader a family that might not be this person's, the chart is drawn only where the relationship is recorded person by person, which today means the direct line.

What the archive knows

A name the family tree already carried, with nothing behind it. Today it has a document. This page existed as an empty stub — a name imported from David's MyHeritage tree with an index number, no note, no date, no evidence and no line. Reading the film put the act under it. 13 March 1783: «Vittorio figlio di Capo Antonio de Franceschi contrasse li primi sponsali con Eufemia figlia di Mattio Bergamo ambi di questa Parrocchia … dispensati dalla solita trina Publicazione, e dal tempo corrente feriato … furono interrogati da me sottoscritto nella Chiesa della B.V. degli Angioli di Parenzo … alla mia presenza, e di Capo Mattio Buzzalovich q. Zuanne da Lisignano, e di Zuanne q. Zuanne Fabretti da Parenzo.» — film 005497886, frame 93, read at 2.2×. (doc.) Her father is Mattio Bergamo, of this parish. ⚠ And a «D.no Mattio Bergamo» had stood witness at Antonia Defranceschi's wedding on 7 January 1779, four years before this one — so the two houses were already acquainted. (The witnessing is doc; that he is her father is inf.) They did not marry at home. The act was taken at Parenzo, in the church of the B.V. degli Angeli, under a dispensation both from the three banns and from the closed season — it is Lent. Neither witness is from the castle: one comes from Parenzo, one from Ližnjan. A wedding out of the parish, in a hurry, in Lent. The register records the dispensation and not the reason, and this archive will not supply one. ⚠ She is almost certainly the «Evphemia pariter de Franceschi» who stands godmother six months later, on 10 September 1783, beside Antonio himself. That page was written when the only evidence was a forename in a parish; the marriage now dates the match to six months earlier and explains the «pariter» — she carried the name by marriage. The two pages are cross-linked and not merged, because an id once minted is never moved. Her daughter Maria Matthia is baptised 3 September 1784, eighteen months after the wedding.
