What the archive knows

A woman named as «uxor Jacobi Defranceschi» across ten years, and the reason this archive still thinks there were two Jacobos. Her attestations, all godparent lines — «[Franca] Mar-/:cario uxor Jacobi Defranceschi» on 1 December 1743 (the surname split across the line break); «Franca Marcario uxor Jacobi Defranceschi» on 26 March 1752; «Francisca uxor Jacobi Defranceschi» on 17 December 1752; and «Francisca uxor Jacobi Defranceschi» on 6 February 1753. (doc for each appearance.) ⚠ She is not Matteo's Francisca, who is a different household — though the archive cannot rule out that one clerk confused them, because it has caught this register attaching the wrong husband to a woman twice. What she is for. Pascasia bears Jacobo four children between 1743 and 1750 and is named his wife in a joint line on 29 April 1753. This woman is named his wife on 6 February 1753, ten weeks earlier. One man cannot have both, so either the parish held two men of the forename, or these godparent lines are unreliable about husbands. The archive prefers the first and says so, and today's re-reading moved the whole case onto 1752–53 — because 1743 turned out to be Pascasia after all. See /corrections/. ⚠ And she has never been attested in a baptism. Every line naming her is a godparent line — the weakest object in this volume, and the kind this archive has twice convicted. (inf that she is a distinct woman at all.) Born about 1720 — estimated.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
